Overview:
As the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at our retail pharmacy, your primary role is to oversee the day-to-day clinical and operational aspects of the pharmacy, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care. You are responsible for supervising pharmacy technicians and supporting them in their roles, while also handling higher-level responsibilities such as financial and inventory management, business development, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:

• Financial & Inventory Management
• Your Role: You are responsible for overseeing the pharmacy’s financial performance, including budget management, cost control, and ensuring efficient medication procurement and inventory levels. You’ll work closely with other stakeholders to ensure that financial goals are met and that the pharmacy’s inventory is managed appropriately.
• Pharmacy Technicians’ Role: Pharmacy technicians manage the day-to-day physical inventory, stock medications, and ensure accurate counts, but you oversee the broader financial aspects and decision-making in procurement.
• Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Reporting
• Your Role: You are responsible for compiling and reviewing daily reports related to key performance indicators (KPIs), such as the number of prescriptions filled, total daily deliveries, number of prescriptions transferred, and other metrics important to the pharmacy’s operations. You analyze these reports and implement strategies for improvement as needed.
• Pharmacy Technicians’ Role: Pharmacy technicians assist with the preparation and organization of data, but you take ownership of reviewing and acting upon these KPIs to guide the pharmacy's performance.
• Managing Pharmacy Staff
• Your Role: You supervise pharmacy technicians, ensuring that the pharmacy operates efficiently and in compliance with regulatory standards. You are responsible for managing the staffing schedule, handling employee absences, conducting performance evaluations, and providing training or corrective action as necessary.
• Pharmacy Technicians’ Role: Pharmacy technicians report to you and carry out operational tasks as directed. They support you by adhering to workflow, policies, and providing customer service but require your leadership and oversight to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintaining Business Initiatives
• Your Role: You lead initiatives to promote the business and increase its visibility, including overseeing the pharmacy’s social media presence, business delivery program, promotional events, and advertising efforts. Your role includes creating and executing strategies to enhance the pharmacy’s community engagement and expand its customer base.
• Pharmacy Technicians’ Role: Pharmacy technicians assist with customer service and deliveries as needed but do not take responsibility for the marketing or business development aspects of the pharmacy.
• Insurance Contracts & Credentialing
• Your Role: You manage relationships with insurance providers, ensuring proper contract negotiations and credentialing processes. You also ensure that all pharmacy activities align with insurance regulations and ensure that the pharmacy is reimbursed correctly for services rendered.
• Pharmacy Technicians’ Role: Pharmacy technicians assist with billing and processing claims, but you oversee all high-level insurance and credentialing activities, ensuring that the pharmacy remains compliant and efficient.
• Licensure & Compliance Management
• Your Role: You are responsible for ensuring the pharmacy and all staff maintain current licensure and certifications in accordance with state and federal regulations. You also stay up to date on any changes in pharmacy regulations and compliance issues, making sure that the pharmacy remains fully compliant.
• Pharmacy Technicians’ Role: Pharmacy technicians must maintain their individual certifications and adhere to pharmacy regulations but do not take responsibility for maintaining compliance at the organizational level.
• Regulatory & Safety Oversight
• Your Role: You ensure the pharmacy is operating in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and best practices, including those related to the 340B program. You’re responsible for ensuring safety protocols are followed and that pharmacy practices are in line with evolving regulations.
• Pharmacy Technicians’ Role: Pharmacy technicians follow regulatory and safety protocols as directed but do not assume responsibility for ensuring overall compliance across the pharmacy.
• Other Duties as Assigned
• Your Role: You may be tasked with additional responsibilities, including overseeing new business initiatives, managing workflow efficiency, and ensuring staff development and training.
• Pharmacy Technicians’ Role: Pharmacy technicians perform operational tasks as directed and support the broader pharmacy functions but do not assume leadership responsibilities.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree required.
• Current, active pharmacist license in [State].
• Previous experience in a retail pharmacy setting with supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the 340B program, pharmacy regulations, and insurance contracting.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proficiency in pharmacy software and computer systems.
