We are non-profit seeking an organized and proactive Program Manager to oversee the daily operations of NextGen News: Stories of Service, a two-week youth journalism intensive held in partnership with AmeriCorps and 9/11 Day.
This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring students, instructors, guest speakers, and production staff have everything needed for a successful experience. The Program Manager will serve as the primary logistical lead, working behind the scenes to keep the program running efficiently while creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for participants.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, solutions-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced educational setting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily program operations and ensure activities remain on schedule.
- Coordinate student attendance, check-in, and daily communications.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students, parents, instructors, guest speakers, and community partners.
- Manage classroom setup, instructional materials, and daily program logistics.
- Coordinate field reporting schedules, transportation, and interview logistics.
- Work closely with the production crew to ensure filming schedules are organized and on track.
- Assist with obtaining and organizing media release forms, permission slips, and participant documentation.
- Coordinate meals, refreshments, and supply distribution.
- Monitor student safety and help maintain a positive learning environment.
- Troubleshoot logistical challenges and provide operational support throughout the program.
- Assist with program documentation, attendance records, and final reporting requirements.
- Support instructors during classroom activities and field experiences as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience coordinating educational programs, youth programs, camps, community initiatives, or special events.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with high school-aged youth preferred.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with educators, production professionals, and community partners.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace.
- Ability to pass a background screening.

- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Compensation: $2,000 flat rate
- Location: In-person (Brooklyn, NY)
