Swiss CNC Manufacturing Engineer / Programmer / Setup Specialist

We’re looking for a hands-on Swiss CNC Manufacturing Engineer who takes ownership of programming, setups, process improvement for producing high-quality precision parts. This is a key technical role for someone who knows Swiss machining, enjoys solving problems, and wants to help drive efficiency without being in a formal supervisor position.
What You’ll Do
Swiss CNC Programming, Setup & Machining
- Program, set up, and optimize Swiss CNC machines, including Citizen Swiss and possibly Citizen Miyano lathes.
- Prove out new jobs, programs, tooling, and processes.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and quality issues to reduce downtime.
- Perform machine setups and support production runs as needed.
- Optimize cycle times, tool life, part quality, and overall process reliability.
- Maintain and improve setup sheets, tooling lists, programs, and process documentation.
- Support first article inspections and ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
Manufacturing Engineering & Process Improvement
- Develop efficient machining processes for new and existing jobs.
- Review prints and help determine the best manufacturing approach.
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce scrap, and increase efficiency.
- Work with the team to improve setups, tooling strategies, workholding, and inspection methods.
- Assist with quoting by providing cycle times, tooling requirements, and process input.
- Help standardize best practices across Swiss CNC jobs and setups.
Production Support & Coordination
- Support machinists and operators with technical questions, setups, offsets, tooling, and troubleshooting.
- Help ensure tooling, materials, and resources are ready for upcoming jobs.
- Work with vendors to maintain proper tooling and supplies.
- Monitor cycle times, tool life, scrap, and part quality to support continuous improvement.
- Help keep jobs running smoothly and on schedule.
Quality, Safety & Teamwork
- Ensure parts meet print specifications and customer requirements.
- Use precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify part quality.
- Work closely with quality, production, and leadership teams to solve problems.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture focused on quality and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with Swiss CNC programming and setup.
- Experience with Citizen Swiss machines preferred.
- Strong understanding of tight-tolerance precision manufacturing.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize machining processes.
- Experience with tooling selection, process development, and setup documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret complex prints and specifications.
- Hands-on mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with machinists, operators, quality, and leadership.
- Manufacturing engineering or advanced setup experience is a strong plus.

Pay: $92,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
