Job Summary:
The Communications, Community and Event Director serves as a strategic leader responsible for advancing the credit union’s vision, mission and goals. This position requires a friendly, outgoing individual capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with members, organizations, and our community. Enhancing credit union brand visibility, growing community connections, and driving impactful events that support our objectives is key while promoting transparency, trust, and participation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must! Working closely with the Executive Management Team, this person serves as a liaison between the marketing department and other departments to ensure consistent messaging. The Communications, Community and Event Director seeks and finds new opportunities to assist with promoting financial literacy within the communities we serve.
Essential Function & Responsibilities:
· Leads ESFCU in marketing, communications, branding, social media, digital marketing, website, community events, donations & sponsorships, always striving to improve ESFCU’s image. Directs marketing & event planning, including an analysis of competitive products/services, legislation, budgets, pricing & distribution.
· Oversees marketing and event planning department: hires, reviews, schedules, trains, directs, and monitors the work of direct reports; conducts performance reviews; allocates resources to meet operational needs within the dept; reviews and approves, denies, or modifies dept recommendations from subordinates.
· Develops and executes comprehensive internal and external communication strategies, including media relations, social media, content creation, branding, crisis communications, and public information initiatives to keep members informed and engaged.
· As an ambassador for ESFCU, builds and strengthens partnerships with members, organizations, SEG groups, and the community to promote member retention and loyalty.
· Plans, coordinates, oversees, and executes high-quality events that align with organizational priorities, including logistics, promotion, sponsorships, and evaluation of ROI and impact.
· This position acts as a key bridge between ESFCU and its audiences, ensuring consistent, authentic messaging and experiences that amplify impact, build loyalty, and support long-term growth.

General Responsibilities:
· Identifies and implements solutions to problems in general and urgent matters
· Works collaboratively with staff to maintain a team environment to accomplish the tasks necessary to serve and support ESFCU
· Shows professionalism while representing ESFCU (onsite, professional, and community events and via communications)
· Administers ESFCU’s financial education programs in group settings by creating presentations and presenting the curriculum
· Answers telephone calls, texts, emails, etc., and provides a prompt response
· Complies with federal, state, and local laws while following organizational policies and procedures
· Proactively participates in regular networking opportunities within the community as a representative of ESFCU; achieves annual community involvement goals
· Identifies products and services throughout ESFCU to enhance or improve, looking for the most efficient method to deploy or enhance services while balancing member usage and the needs of profitability. Supervises implementation of new or upgraded products
· Finishes all assigned projects according to policy and procedures, informing management of progress
· Provides informed, professional, and accurate service and support to all members and associates
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skill, Ability)
· Five to ten years of similar or related experience preferred
· A bachelor’s degree or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and communicate. Ability to develop positive relationships with coworkers, community members, ESFCU members, and vendors through in-person, telephone, text, and email communication. Networking is a must.
· Must be well-organized and adaptable, plus have excellent time management skills.
· Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job. Ability to foster sound relationships.
· Must have an in-depth understanding of and ability to interpret regulations affecting deposit and lending programs as it pertains to marketing. Extensive knowledge of regulations pertaining to deposits, credit/debit cards, consumer, commercial, and real estate lending practices and procedures.
· Must be a critical thinker and good with problem-solving.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office products and industry software. Plus basic office skills: typing, 10-key, basic math. Working knowledge of spreadsheets and publishing software as well as other general office equipment.
· Professional speaking and writing skills. Creative writing and knowledge of target marketing required.
· Ability to multitask in an environment of frequent interruptions. Must be able to coordinate a variety of projects.
· This role requires a significant level of trust and diplomacy.
· Strong business analysis, problem-solving, interpersonal, member management, and project management skills.
