Safety/Compliance Manager
Total Distribution Solutions, Inc. (TDS), formerly Peoples Services, Inc., is a growing network of 3PL companies that provides quality supply-chain logistics and transportation services. Total Distribution operates over 12 million square feet of public and contract warehouse space in 70 facilities across seven states. Our warehouses specialize in the storage, handling and fulfillment services for food grade, hazardous materials, polymers, plastics, chemicals and customized packaging. Warehouses are located in Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Florida. Our warehouse locations, in-house transportation and brokerage services, company owned fleet of trucks and experienced supply chain team give us the leverage to provide efficient, reliable supply chain services.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety/Compliance Manager to support safety, regulatory, and compliance programs within our 3PL operations. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulatory agencies, as well as customer-specific requirements across all warehouse and transportation operations.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Safety, Quality, & Regulatory Compliance, this position will primarily be responsible for the implementation and on-going support of environmental, health, safety and security plans, policies, procedures, and compliance programs. Additionally, this position will aid in the development and implementation of ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and RC14001 Management Systems.
Essential Functions:
· Support facilities in implementing QEHS&S programs.
· Conduct annual reviews of the QEHS&S procedures and recommend necessary improvements.
· Develop and conduct safety training as needed.
· Evaluate new materials for approval.
· Assist in maintaining recordkeeping as required by regulatory agencies and company policy, including annual reporting and OSHA logs.
· Lead/participate in safety incident investigations and root cause analyses using techniques such as 5 Why and Cause Mapping.
· Work with personnel to improve safety on new and existing processes.
· Attend and participate in safety meetings and inspections.
· Evaluate Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for suitability of storage/handling at various locations.
· Report and track worker compensation claims
Skill/Experience Requirements:
· Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental/Health Science, or closely related degree required.
· 3+ years of environmental, health and safety experience preferred.
· 1+ years handling workers compensation claims
· Competent in MS Office and basic computer skills.
· Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations. DOT knowledge a plus.
· Experience auditing policies, procedures and facilities.
· Sound communication skills both written and verbal.
· Willingness to have a hands-on approach.
· Candidate must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently.
· Ability to successfully pass background check and drug screening.
Travel Requirements
· Travel up to 25% with some overnight stays
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
