Job Summary
The Outside Sales Executive is responsible for field-based customer engagement, onsite evaluations, and solution-based selling of service work, repairs, upgrades, and planned maintenance programs at American Overhead Door & Dock. The role focuses on identifying customer needs through walkthroughs of overhead doors, dock levelers, pit equipment, truck restraints, HVLS fans, safety systems, and related equipment. This position converts warm opportunities from Inside Sales while developing new customer relationships, identifying additional properties, and conducting on-site inspections to promote safety, uptime, and operational continuity for material-handling facilities.
Essential Job Functions
· Perform onsite walkthroughs to assess condition of overhead doors, dock levelers, restraints, seals, shelters, operators, and accessories.
· Generate proposals for repairs such as spring conversions, door replacements, leveler overhauls, modernization upgrades, and safety enhancements.
· Build long-term relationships with customers, including facility managers, maintenance supervisors, and operations leaders.
· Identify multi-site opportunities and expansion within existing customer portfolios.
· Document all site notes, photos, scope details, and inspection findings in NetSuite and/or CRM.
· Develop accurate, timely proposals that reflect site conditions and technical requirements.
· Present and review proposals with customers, manage objections, and close open quotes.
· Maintain an active and disciplined opportunity funnel within NetSuite and/or CRM.
· Coordinate with Inside Sales to receive warm leads and provide post-visit clarity as needed.
· Collaborate with Operations to understand technician footprint, skillset, availability, and resource limitations.
· Provide market feedback, competitive data, and customer insights to management.
· Serve as the face of the company during onsite visits, demonstrating professionalism, technical understanding, and problem-solving ability.
· Attend customer meetings, facility walkthroughs, new construction owner/operator training, and industry events as requested.

Other Duties
· Attend staff, departmental, and other required meetings and trainings.

· Travel to customer and prospect locations throughout the service territory on a daily basis.

Qualifications, Experience, and Education
· High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, or related field preferred.
· 2–5 years of experience in outside sales, field sales, or a customer-facing technical sales role.
· Knowledge of commercial building systems, overhead doors, dock equipment, or industrial services strongly preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to independently manage a sales territory, customer pipeline, and proposal process.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build trust with facility-level decision-makers.
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
Computer and Equipment Skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Experience with NetSuite and/or CRM platforms for opportunity tracking and documentation.
· Comfortable using mobile tools and applications for field-based quoting and communication.
· Use of online teleconferencing software (e.g., Zoom or Teams).
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
