Mitchell High School is seeking an innovative and results-driven Assistant Principal to lead the development and implementation of its Aerospace and STEM pathways, set to become the school’s premier magnet offering.
The Assistant Principal for Aerospace & STEM will oversee high-impact programs including Aviation Science, Cybersecurity and Robotics, Technology Certification pathways, and other STEM-aligned offerings embedded within the school’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming. Working closely with instructional coaches, department chairs, and community partners, this administrator will ensure rigorous, real-world learning experiences aligned with college- and career-readiness priorities and the school’s instructional model.
Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate has demonstrated success leading secondary STEM, CTE, or pathway-based programming, with experience in instructional leadership, staff development, and systems implementation. A strong background in building industry partnerships, expanding work-based learning opportunities, and aligning programs to postsecondary outcomes is highly valued. Experience supervising and evaluating certificated staff across diverse departments, especially in science, engineering, and technical fields, is essential in a comprehensive high school where multiple instructional pathways intersect.
Core Responsibilities
This Assistant Principal will lead the design, expansion, and continuous improvement of Aerospace and STEM pathways, ensuring alignment with the school’s core focus areas of pathways, instructional rigor, and postsecondary readiness. Responsibilities include supervising STEM and CTE staff, coaching for high-quality instruction, facilitating professional learning through PLC structures, and ensuring strong implementation of the Model of Instruction across classrooms. The role also involves developing systems for student enrollment, pathway progression, and credential attainment, as well as strengthening partnerships with industry and higher education providers.

Success in this role will be demonstrated through measurable growth in student enrollment and completion of Aerospace and STEM pathways, increased attainment of industry certifications and postsecondary credits, and improved student achievement in STEM disciplines. Additional indicators include strong instructional coherence across departments, high levels of teacher development and retention within STEM programs, and the successful integration of work-based learning and real-world application opportunities aligned to student career goals.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
Assists the principal in the overall administration of school functions. Assists in staff development, evaluations, discipline, budgeting, and daily school administration. Responsibilities in assessing needs, data collection and analysis, and designing programs to increase student achievement using a continuous improvement model.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is performed in a typical office environment located within a school setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.

Base Salary Setting: Employment, assignment and salary placement, is in accordance with job description requirements. A work history is required to demonstrate job title, job duties and time worked in the position. Reference the linked How Your Compensation Is Determined for more details.
Salary Setting (New Hires): Newly-employed Executive Professionals will be placed on the twenty (20) step system. Each step represents two years of experience, based upon equivalent experience. Beginning in July 2025, The maximum number of years of experience granted is 14, which is equivalent to placement on step seven (7). Steps are determined by experience listed on the application and resume.
Salary Setting (Rehires): Returning employees who have previously resigned or separated from the District will be rehired at the same step they were on at the time of resignation/separation plus any new experience gained in the same job, provided step increases were approved by the Board during the years in question.
Employees with experience in the District who have left the District and then returned to the same position shall be hired at the same pay grade (refers to the __EXEC Pro placement on salary schedule by job title) and step at time of resignation. Additional relevant experience gained after resignation may be evaluated from the employee’s application and updated resume.
