Join a collaborative engineering team supporting the development of next-generation vehicle electrical and electronic systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers while gaining hands-on exposure to vehicle development, electrical component integration, CAD design, and cross-functional engineering activities.
You will play an active role in supporting the design, packaging, validation, and implementation of vehicle electronic components throughout the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, technically curious, and eager to take ownership of assignments while building a strong foundation in automotive engineering.
What You'll Do
- Support engineers in the development, integration, and application of vehicle electronic and electrical components.
- Assist with electrical component packaging and vehicle integration activities using CATIA V5 in both 3D and 2D environments.
- Create, update, and maintain engineering drawings, wiring specifications, parts lists, and other technical documentation.
- Perform drawing comparisons, identify design changes, and prepare reports for engineering review.
- Coordinate part orders and support build events, prototype activities, and engineering evaluations.
- Assist engineers and technicians with ECU software updates, re-flashing activities, and vehicle configuration changes.
- Track, maintain, and follow up on open engineering issues, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, testing, suppliers, and project stakeholders to support development objectives.
- Support engineering investigations by gathering data, documenting findings, and helping implement corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance engineering processes, documentation, and communication.
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience using CATIA V5 in both 3D modeling and 2D drafting environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn, take initiative, and expand technical capabilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment with evolving priorities.
- Ability to work onsite at our Saline, Michigan office five days per week.
- Flexibility to support project deadlines, including up to 30% overtime when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting vehicle development, mechanical design, or automotive engineering projects.
- Understanding of electrical systems, wiring harnesses, electronic components, or related vehicle electrical architecture.
- Experience creating or maintaining engineering documentation, specifications, or CAD data.
- Exposure to prototype builds, validation activities, testing, or manufacturing support.
- Familiarity with engineering problem-solving methodologies and issue tracking processes.
