We are Southern Maryland's leading organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse and the promotion of positive mental and behavioral health. Proudly serving our communities for over thirty years, our team of professionals provides mental health evaluations, psychological testing, and a variety of therapy services. With three outpatient clinics licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and 19 programs, Center for Children serves more than 4,500 individuals each year in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Howard, and St. Mary's counties.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the success of the Healthy Families program and the Family Support Center and the high-quality services provided to children and families in the community. The Program Coordinator will ensure that the goals and objectives of the Healthy Families America program are met and that the Center for Children’s policies and procedures, state and county guidelines, and professional ethical standards are upheld.
- Schedule – days, flexibility available
- Pay- $75,000 - $85,000 per year – commensurate with experience
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage program budget, operating costs, and other fiscal responsibilities
- Recommend and implement improvements to increase program’s effectiveness and contribution to the community.
- Maintain collaborative partnerships with Healthy Families America, Healthy Families Maryland, Human Services Partnership, local Medical Center, Department of Health, and other community partners to promote best practice standards.
- Develop public relations materials including brochures, pamphlets, posters, reports, success stories, and fact sheets.
- Support and maintain the Healthy Families Southern Maryland Advisory Committee.
- Recruit, manage and train staff in accordance with Healthy Families America standards and Center for Children's policies, procedures and guidance.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in child development, early childhood education, or human services related field
- 2 years post degree experience working with children (ages 0 – 6) and families
- Three years supervisory experience including training and addressing personnel issues.
- Experience managing grants or contracts; grant writing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of child abuse dynamics, infant-child development, parent-child interaction, and family systems.
- Experience in case management, service planning, cultivating community resources/partnerships, and handling emergency/crisis situations
- Experience managing a culturally diverse staff with demonstrated cultural competency and humility.
- Willingness to engage in building reflective practices (e.g., capacity for introspection, communicating awareness of self in relation to others, recognizing value of supervision, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
- Successfully complete State and Federal background investigation and drug test.
