Protective Security Officer (PSO)

Hourly $32.35 + $4.30 H&W

New Full-Time Hires

Eligible for $1,000 retention incentive.

Payable after successful completion of the contract option period on September 29, 2026.

Must remain continuously assigned to the OPM contract through that date and maintain a Full-time, 40-hour-a-week schedule.

PSOs shall be required to perform a variety of security-related duties, depending on the type of posts to which they are assigned. Each post shall have the Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures.

PSOs must be thoroughly familiar with the Post Orders at all posts where they are assigned to work.

Off-going PSOs shall provide a briefing to on-coming PSOs of the events and occurrences that have recently happened, are continuing, or are anticipated for the post.

PSOs shall be responsible for maintaining, at the Guard Post, logs; reports; and files of all incidents and occurrences encountered during the duty tour. Patrol duties shall be performed in a professional manner, with the PSOs responsible for observing the environment, and, when necessary, questioning those persons whose activities arouse.

PSOs shall be responsible for operating all security equipment on the post, such as X-ray machines, magnetometers, and closed-circuit television (CCTV).

When required by the Post Orders, PSOs shall direct traffic (vehicular and pedestrian within the confines of Federal property) and observe the environment for suspicious vehicles or persons. PSOs may operate traffic control points and identify, delay, and

detain all suspicious vehicles and personnel as necessary to maintain a level of security sufficient to ensure the safety and protection of all personnel, property, and resources

within the facility.

PSOs shall monitor and operate facility intrusion detection systems, closed circuit television systems, automated access control systems, communications systems, and other protection devices or facility equipment located on or near the post, in accordance with

the Post Orders.

Requirements:

Must successfully pass a criminal and credit background investigation to include previous employment and personal references.

Must successfully pass a physical and medical examination, drug screening to include a Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB), and psychiatric evaluation.

Thirty-six (36) Hours of National Protective Security Officer Training Program for The Department of Homeland Security Contract Guards Protective Security Officer (PSO).

Initial Weapons Qualification Certification.

X-RAY/Screener Certification.

First Aid/AED/CPR Certificate (preferably ARC/AHA).

Monadnock Expandable (MEB).

Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Spray.

The PSO Weapons training certification requirement is: (Glock 17, 19, 23 9MM/40CAL).
