Job Overview
About Aptel
Aptel is a SaaS platform provider serving high-volume field sales, call-center, and healthcare staffing/onboarding operations. Our platform helps clients manage complex hiring and onboarding workflows where speed, compliance, scheduling, training completion, and payment accuracy all matter. The software spans recruiting, candidate selection, onboarding, training, time and success tracking, and payments. We coordinate active programs across multiple national brands and handle significant operational volume daily.
About the role
This role blends project management, client delivery, and hands-on system configuration.
This is not a sales quota role or a primary engineering role; it is a delivery-ownership role for client programs that require strong technical fluency, disciplined project execution, and hands-on configuration judgment.
The ideal candidate brings a software development or systems integration background. You will work closely with our engineering team, and we want someone who can engage as a credible technical peer on design, integration, and delivery decisions while keeping the focus on delivery rather than direct engineering work.
This is a highly client-facing delivery role. It functions much like a consultant or solutions-architect role serving external clients, except you do that work from within Aptel's product team. You will own the operating rhythm, requirements intake, implementation follow-through, and senior stakeholder communication for assigned client programs. Our clients are external organizations that depend on our platform for their operations, and the role requires representing Aptel effectively to senior leadership at those organizations. You will partner closely with internal leadership on client health and escalations.
The work includes turning client requests into clear specifications, running the sprint cadence that keeps releases on time, and coordinating across multiple concurrent programs and integrations.
We use company-approved AI tools to accelerate prototyping, workflow exploration, documentation, and analysis. PMs are expected to use AI thoughtfully, with human review and in accordance with our confidentiality and data-security policies.
Approximate role mix: 40% client delivery and stakeholder management, 25% sprint and release coordination, 20% requirements, specification, and prototyping, 10% training-system configuration, and 5% compliance and security coordination.
What you'll own
- Functioning as the consultant and solutions-architect equivalent for assigned client programs, owning delivery, integration scoping, and architectural conversations on Aptel's behalf
- One or more client program relationships end-to-end, including day-to-day operational rhythm and senior-level stakeholder communication
- Sprint cadence and delivery rhythm for one or more product tracks
- The intake-to-release cycle for client-requested features, from initial scoping through specification, build, and launch
- Coordination of integrations across our platform and third-party systems, including specification, testing, and rollout
- Coordination of training program rollouts with internal teams and client stakeholders
- Coordination of client-facing compliance and privacy response workflows, including security questionnaires, DPA review routing, evidence collection, and follow-up with internal leadership, legal, engineering, external partners, and client compliance teams
Responsibilities
- Run sprint and scrum cadence across multiple product tracks, including stand-ups, backlog maintenance, sprint reviews, and retros
- Translate client requests into specifications, mockups, and tickets for the development team
- Use AI tools to prototype screens, workflows, and reports
- Coordinate cross-system integrations across internal platforms and third-party systems
- Configure and maintain online training content and course gating
- Maintain project tracking, including folder structure, status, and ownership
- Run client check-ins, demos, and recurring meetings
- Coordinate compliance workstreams with internal engineering, external partners, and client compliance teams
- Maintain operational documentation and evidence used to support audits, client agreements, and security reviews; this role coordinates the response process but is not the final legal or security approver
- Identify and escalate risks
What success looks like
Within 3 to 6 months:
- You're the primary Aptel contact for at least one major client program, with established working rhythm and trusted relationships with client-side leadership
- Clients view you as the Aptel equivalent of a consultant or solutions architect they would otherwise hire externally
- You're running sprint cadence for one or more product tracks independently
- You're recognized by the development team as a credible technical collaborator on design and integration decisions
- AI-generated mockups and prototypes are a routine part of how you communicate with developers and clients
Within 6 to 12 months:
- You're the day-to-day owner of multiple client relationships and end-to-end implementation cycles
- You've documented at least one significant operational process or playbook that previously lived informally
- You've led at least one initiative to streamline cadence, intake, or compliance response
- You're recognized internally as the subject-matter expert for at least one product area
Qualifications
Required
- Hands-on software development or systems integration background, with the depth to engage credibly with engineering teams as a technical peer
- Significant experience delivering projects for external clients (consulting, agency, vendor, embedded-client, or similar models where you served an outside organization through your employer)
- Client-facing technical project or product experience in a SaaS environment
- Ability to translate client needs into tickets, specs, mockups, and acceptance criteria
- Experience coordinating engineering delivery across multiple workstreams
- Familiarity with Jira, Wrike, or similar systems
- Comfort using AI tools for prototyping and documentation, or willingness to adopt them quickly
- Strong written communication with screenshots, diagrams, and examples
Strongly preferred
- Experience delivering cross-system integrations involving APIs, data flows, or multiple third-party platforms
- Experience with online training, LMS, onboarding systems, course gating, or access controls
- Basic HTML comfort
- Experience with nontechnical client stakeholders
Nice to have
- Basic SQL literacy is a plus, especially for reading data, validating training access rules, and designing simple reports. Any production data changes follow established review, approval, and audit processes.
- Compliance and security workflow exposure: CCPA, ADA, DPA, SOC, ISO
- Field sales, call-center, healthcare staffing/onboarding, or high-volume hiring domain experience
Work environment
- Hybrid role based in Laguna Hills, CA. Approximately 60% in-office presence required (typically 3 days per week), with flexibility for client meetings and development-team time zones
- Occasional travel required, typically a few times per year. Travel reasons include workshopping, requirements gathering, and working with field users on acceptance testing and improvement ideas
- Collaboration with a distributed development team
- Standard business hours with some flexibility for client time zones
- Regular use of company-approved AI tools as part of standard workflow
Work authorization
Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States. This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
