Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Salary: $140,000 - $160,000 DOE
Schedule: Hybrid (3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Java/Spring Engineer to join a growing engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable backend systems supporting payment-processing applications.

This is a senior technical role where you'll work closely with engineering leadership to build distributed applications, improve platform performance, and mentor other developers.

Please Note: This is a Hybrid position requiring 3 days per week onsite. Candidates must currently live within commuting distance of Delta, CO, Dallas, TX, or St. Petersburg, FL. Relocation assistance is NOT available.Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable distributed services supporting payment-processing workflows.
• Develop RESTful APIs and backend integrations.
• Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Work within PCI-compliant and regulated environments.
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineering Leadership.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional Java backend development experience.
• 10+ years of hands-on Spring Boot experience.
• 5+ years working in Financial Services or payment-processing environments.
• Strong expertise in:
• Java
• Spring Framework
• Spring Boot
• REST APIs
• Distributed Systems
• Experience developing secure, enterprise-scale applications.
• Understanding of PCI Compliance and secure payment processing.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP).
• Excellent problem-solving and system design skills.
• Ability to work onsite three days per week in one of the approved locations.
