This warm, easygoing first-time family is looking for a steady, knowledgeable nanny to join them in welcoming their baby girl into the world. Mom will be working from home, and Dad works in law enforcement, so a calm, grounded household feels especially important to them.

They are located in Susanville, and while they would love to find someone local, they understand the childcare market there is small and are open to a commuter, as long as that person can reliably make the drive in any weather.

About the Child

What Your Days Will Look Like

Days begin at 8:30 a.m. and unfold in the gentle rhythm of newborn life. You will be the primary caregiver for baby while mom works from her home office, focused on feedings, naps, tummy time, developmentally supportive play, and the steady, attentive care that helps little ones thrive.

Light housekeeping is centered on baby's world, keeping bottles clean, laundry running, baby items tidy and organized, and the kitchen reset throughout the day. The family plans to use cloth diapers, so experience or a genuine willingness to learn is important.

If you love to cook, they would be over the moon to have help getting dinner started or prepping a meal here and there, though it is truly a bonus, not a must. As baby grows, there may eventually be opportunities to take her to local activities using the family's car.

The Details

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Hours: 42.5 guaranteed hours per week
• Compensation: $23 to $27 per hour, DOE, with flexibility based on the local market
• Benefits: Paid holidays, three weeks of PTO, California paid sick leave, guaranteed hours, and fully legal W-2 pay
• Location: Susanville, CA, with a strong preference for local candidates and openness to a reliable commuter
• Household: Mom works from home, dad works in law enforcement, one mature dog (occasional let-outs) and one mature indoor cat (please keep her inside), no other caregivers
• Commitment: Long-term, growing alongside the family

Family Preferences

The family is hoping to find an experienced infant caregiver with a strong foundation in developmental milestones, healthy sleep and feeding rhythms, and the calm presence newborns thrive on. Experience with cloth diapering is a wonderful bonus, and an open, willing attitude is welcome if it is new to you. A genuinely collaborative, advice-sharing nature will be deeply appreciated by these first-time parents.

This is a non-smoking, smoke-free home. The family also asks that their caregiver be up to date on vaccinations, including an annual flu shot and COVID booster; reasonable accommodations will be considered as required by law. A pre-employment drug screening is part of the hiring process and is conducted in accordance with California law.

PB+J Collective Agency Requirements

Every caregiver we place must meet our agency standards:

• At least 18 years old
• Minimum of 3 years of professional childcare experience, including at least 3 years of infant experience
• Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle, and comfortable transporting children when needed
• CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to certify before placement
• Strong professional and personal references
• Comfortable working in homes with pets
• Successful completion of a comprehensive background check following a conditional offer of employment
