Position Summary

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of residential construction projects.

Working directly with experienced Project Managers, you will gain hands-on experience throughout every stage of construction—from project startup to final inspection.

This position is ideal for someone seeking a long-term career in construction management, with a clear path to becoming a Project Manager.

Responsibilities

* Assist Project Managers with daily project coordination and administration

* Coordinate project startup activities

* Call 811 before excavation

* Schedule portable toilets, temporary fencing, dumpsters, and underground utility locating

* Coordinate inspections with local building departments

* Coordinate PG&E and other utility-related work

* Review construction drawings and project documents

* Verify field measurements and construction details

* Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, surveyors, soil engineers, solar contractors, fire sprinkler contractors, sewer contractors, and other consultants

* Track project schedules and subcontractor progress

* Assist with material purchasing and budget tracking

* Maintain project documentation and project records

* Support quality control inspections and follow-up items

* Help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to company quality standards

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Architectural Design, or a related field

* Excellent organizational and time management skills

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

* Strong attention to detail

* Positive attitude and willingness to learn

* Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation

* Willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Bay Area

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience in residential construction, engineering, architecture, or project coordination

* Ability to read construction drawings

* Experience with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Buildertrend, or similar construction management software

* Knowledge of California residential permitting and construction processes

* Ability to communicate professionally in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Mandarin is preferred because this position frequently communicates with Mandarin-speaking clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

Compensation

$20.00–$35.00 per hour + Performance Bonus

Paid Training

Entry-level candidates begin with a paid training period at $18.70/hour.

Following successful completion of training, compensation is reviewed based on performance.

Typical compensation progression:

* $20.00/hour after successful completion of training

* Approximately $25.00/hour after 6 months

* Approximately $30.00/hour + Project Bonus after 1 year

* Approximately $35.00/hour + Project Bonus after 2 years

Performance reviews are conducted regularly. Compensation increases are based on individual performance, responsibility, and overall contribution.
