IPT Corporation, located in California, MD seeks a multi-disciplinary electrical engineer to join the AN/SYY-1 team at St. Inigoes, MD and support the development, testing, and sustainment of the SYY-1 Air Traffic Control Console. This position provides an opportunity for a candidate to learn and specialize in a critical part of modern aircraft carrier flight operations. The ideal candidate will have broad experience across hardware, software, and test specialties; will need to be capable of testing and troubleshooting a variety of hardware and software systems. All skill levels will be considered with pay being commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Sustainment of the ATC Recorder system including operation and maintenance of the unit in the SYY-1 lab. Install, test, and troubleshoot ATC Recorder software. Verify configuration of units sent to ships.
- Support the test and evaluation of SYY-1 software and keep the SYY-1 testbed mechanically operational and in up-to-date configurations. Perform configuration management of all loaded software. Write trouble reports (TRs) and change requests (CRs) for software and hardware as necessary. Run Final Qualification Test (FQT) to verify and validate release software functionality.
- Support SYY-1 test systems including the QBERT that is used to test and verify the SYY-1 consoles. Update and configuration manage loaded software on the units, configure software required to execute test cases to create required aircraft targets. Generate test scenarios to enable testing of specific patterns and configurations.
- Maintain and upkeep lab equipment, ranging from signal generators to oscilloscopes.
- Provide support to fleet maintainers with trouble-calls and troubleshooting to keep fleet systems operational, most notably with the ATC Recorder. Off-hours support may be required for emergent fleet issues.
- Work with other ATC&LS Division product teams that integrate with the SYY-1 to support their testing.
Travel:
- Travel within the continental United States may be occasionally required to support specific tests of installed systems or to visit vendor facilities. At-sea support aboard US Navy vessels may be required, and ability to climb ladders is necessary.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
Minimum Previous Experience:
- Comfortable with computer and electronics hardware. Should be familiar with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and general electrical signal test tools.
Desired Experience:
- Should have an understanding of computer networking and ability to troubleshoot network communication
- Candidate will test and verify a system of systems and should have experience testing a complex set of systems.
- Experienced with Linux, ideally Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and comfortable using the command line.
- Knowledge of the Qt graphical framework.
- Experienced with BASH and Python programming for test script creation
- Experienced with Wireshark
Clearance Required:
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.
