Tri State is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Field Quality Control Specialist to support our growing portfolio of federal, commercial, and enterprise projects throughout the United States. The Field Quality Control Specialist will be responsible for conducting field quality inspections, verifying compliance with project specifications and industry standards, reviewing project documentation, and ensuring installations are completed in accordance with Company and customer requirements.
This position requires frequent travel to project sites nationwide and the ability to work independently while coordinating with project managers, site supervisors, technicians, engineering staff, and customers.
Essential Responsibilities
The Field Quality Control Specialist will perform scheduled and unscheduled site visits to inspect work in progress and completed installations. The successful candidate will evaluate workmanship, verify adherence to contract requirements, review project documentation, and identify deficiencies requiring corrective action.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Conduct field quality inspections on active and completed projects.
- Verify installations comply with project drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Review and validate project documentation including:
- As-built drawings
- Material inventories
- Test results and certifications
- Daily reports
- Photographic documentation
- Closeout packages
- Identify deficiencies and develop punch lists or corrective action reports.
- Work with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to track and verify corrective actions.
- Perform quality audits of subcontractor work and Company personnel.
- Evaluate installation practices related to:
- Structured cabling
- Fiber optic systems
- Network infrastructure
- CCTV and Video Surveillance Systems (VSS)
- Access Control Systems (PACS)
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Wireless and WAP deployments
- Assist in developing and maintaining quality standards, inspection checklists, and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare inspection reports and communicate findings to management.
- Support customer acceptance testing and project closeout activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in quality control, field inspections, construction management, or low-voltage systems installation.
- Working knowledge of structured cabling, networking, security systems, access control, low voltage systems and fire alarm systems.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Construction drawings
- Network diagrams
- Single-line diagrams
- Specifications
- Scope of work documents
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel nationwide up to 50% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on federal government or USPS projects.
- Familiarity with BICSI, TIA/EIA, NFPA, NEC, and other applicable industry standards.
- Experience with CCTV, PACS, fire alarm, and enterprise networking systems.
- Knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, and Meraki network infrastructure.
- Experience conducting wireless surveys or validating wireless network installations.
- Prior experience as a field technician, lead technician, project engineer, or site supervisor.
- Industry certifications such as:
- BICSI Technician or RCDD
- NICET
- OSHA 30
- CCNA
- Manufacturer certifications related to security or networking
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to walk active construction sites, climb ladders, access telecommunications and equipment rooms, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods. The employee may be required to work in varying weather conditions and construction environments.
