Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, supporting production, and helping ensure products are built safely, efficiently, and consistently. This position works closely with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Quality to improve manufacturing methods, solve production issues, and support new product introductions.
This is a hands-on role that requires spending time on the manufacturing floor, working directly with employees to identify opportunities, troubleshoot problems, and improve day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Support
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for manufacturing operations.
- Troubleshoot production issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Support new product introductions and engineering changes.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and routings.
- Assist with production equipment, tooling, and fixture improvements.
Process Improvement
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
- Develop and implement process improvements and standardized work.
- Recommend improvements to manufacturing layouts, tooling, and workflows.
- Participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Quality to support manufacturing operations.
- Participate in design reviews to improve manufacturability.
- Provide technical support and training to production employees as needed.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
_ Systems & Documentation_
- Maintain Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Support ERP updates related to manufacturing processes.
- Assist with manufacturing reporting and process documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing processes in a production environment.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a custom or engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement.
- Experience designing manufacturing tooling and fixtures.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD.
