Title: Assistant Program Manager

Starting Salary: $50,000 - $57,000/year
CinemaKidz is an organization providing high quality Film, Animation, and Media Arts Programs for children aged 5 to 15 in the Greater Boston and New York City areas. Programs are delivered throughout the year via various formats, including: After School courses, Workshops, In-School Programs, Birthday Events, and Summer & Break Camps.
The Assistant Program Manager will be responsible for supporting the management of the Massachusetts program & teaching staff within a high-volume, fast-paced children’s film, media, and animation company, in addition to supporting all programming requirements. This position entails the year-round support of a team consisting of approximately 8 to 14 instructors across all programming seasons, including the school year and the summer camp period.
This role is integral to managing daily program operations, including assisting in the arrangement and coordination of year-round schedules, and the preparation and distribution of program materials.
It is the responsibility of this individual to instill confidence in our instructors, establish clear expectations, and provide effective leadership to the team, thereby ensuring a high-quality experience is delivered to students, families, and partners.
The ideal candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to analyze and resolve novel problems as they arise, and to formulate effective solutions that benefit the company, the instructors, and our clientele.
This role requires a candidate who demonstrates a capacity for rapid learning and functions as an independent thinker capable of creating efficient systems for multitasking and tracking projects from initiation to completion.
The successful applicant must be highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of independently managing a diverse array of tasks, prioritizing effectively to ensure the overall efficiency and success of the program.
Core Responsibilities and Program Oversight:
- Curriculum Mastery and Implementation: Fully understand, learn, and execute CinemaKidz's programming and curriculum, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and vision. Oversee the effective implementation of all curriculum and programming.
- Facilitation and Instruction: Facilitate and teach educational programs throughout the year, including camps, after-school programs, special workshops, and occasional weekend programs.
- Operational Management: day to day and month to month, including materials distribution
- Stakeholder Representation: Act as a representative and the face of CinemaKidz when interacting with clients and important partners.
- Program Development: Collaborate on developing, refining, and implementing new program curriculum in line with the CinemaKidz mission.
- Team Collaboration: Work on various projects and tasks to support the creative mission and company growth.
Teacher Management and Quality Assurance:
- Team Leadership: Manage the team of teachers.
- Performance Monitoring: Conduct calls and meetings to support and supervise staff, as well as on site observations at classes taking place throughout greater boston
- Teacher Support and Development: Support teachers through the progression of each course assignment. Provide classroom management training and support consistent with CinemaKidz values.
- Formal Evaluation: Perform semester evaluations in conjunction with the Team Manager.
Daily Presence and Administrative Support:
- Regular Site Visits: Perform observations and visit classes every afternoon, Monday through Friday, when programs are in session (generally between 2 - 5 pm).
- Coverage/Substitution: Cover classes and sub whenever necessary.
- HR and Clearance Support: Assist the Assistant Director with clearances and various HR paperwork duties related to teaching in schools and with partner sites.
- Communication: Maintain clear lines of communication with the leadership team via phone, Slack, and email.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who is deeply passionate about the arts and education.
Experience & Expertise:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the education sector, encompassing both teaching and program management/operation.
- At least 2 years of experience in managing and training a team of comparable size.
- A minimum of 2 years of administrative and coordinating experience.
- Proven experience in developing, creating, and implementing curriculum.
- Experience in film production is highly preferred.
- Experience with staff recruitment, interviewing, vetting, and hiring is highly preferred.
Technical & Artistic Proficiency:
- Highly tech savvy, with the ability to troubleshoot various software, apps, Google Suite, and Apple workflows.
- Must be a practicing artist with a passion for media arts and experience across a variety of creative mediums.
- Must be able to successfully use all technologies utilized by CinemaKidz, including: Monday, Connect Teams, and Google Suite.
Logistical & Personal Requirements:
- Excellent time management and proactive planning skills.
- A valid driver’s license and a personal car are required.
- Must own a personal computer and a smartphone.
- Ability to regularly lift 25 pounds and navigate stairs.
- Must be able to pass all required background checks and clearances.
