Civil Department Manager Summary:

The Civil Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the Engineering and Tech Teams while ensuring projects stay on a timeline, coordinating directly with clients and company leadership, mentoring engineering staff, and ensuring excellence throughout the company.

A Day in the Life of an Experienced Civil Engineer:

· Proven ability to lead and mentor junior staff

o Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians in the design of municipal water distribution and sewer collection system pipeline design as well as the contractors and construction staff on design/build projects

o Review vendor and contractor shop drawings.

· Prepare and present technical reports

· Manage engineering design and document production

· Lead and manage multiple projects of small, medium, and large scale

· Provide QAQC of projects

· Meets with and presents to peers and clients

· Prepare reports for leadership

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology Degree from an ABET-accredited program
• Certification as an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) a plus
• Candidate must have 7 – 10 years of experience combined with no less than 5 years of leadership
• Candidate must have technical skill sets in any of the following areas: civil site development, site grading, utilities, hydrology, and hydraulics
• Experience with green infrastructure projects a plus
• Candidate must have experience in the preparation of contract documents and the production of plans and specifications
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Must be proficient in Civil 3D software
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, Civil 3D, InfoWorks, XP-SWMM, and/or HEC-RAS a plus
• Must have the ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contracts on project-related matters
• Professional engineer license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experienced in creating and developing department procedures that streamline production
• Ability to perform quality reviews of detailed engineering documents and specifications
