Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama
Work Arrangement: Full-time, on-site
Company: Signature Solutions, Inc.
Signature Solutions, Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking talented and self-motivated engineers to support electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) target and threat modeling for multiple U.S. Army programs at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
We are open to candidates at multiple experience levels, from entry-level engineers through experienced technical professionals. Position level, responsibilities, and compensation will be based on the selected candidate’s education, experience, and qualifications.
The selected candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing multispectral, physics-based modeling, simulation, and data analysis support for EO/IR systems. The position includes the development, analysis, and validation of infrared target signature models using physics-based predictive methods and empirical measurement data.
The engineer will use established modeling and simulation tools, including MuSES, SPIRITS, and OSC, to develop and validate a wide range of EO/IR signature models. The engineer will also coordinate with technical teams responsible for integrating signature models into all-digital and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments.
Additional responsibilities include supporting the processing, analysis, and visualization of measured signature data and clearly documenting modeling methods, assumptions, results, and conclusions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, analyze, and validate target and threat signature models across infrared, near-infrared, and visible wavebands.
- Use physics-based modeling tools and empirical data to characterize EO/IR signatures.
- Perform verification and validation activities by comparing modeled results with reference or measured data.
- Develop and use analytical, data-processing, and visualization tools to support model development, verification, and validation.
- Support the integration of EO/IR signature models into all-digital and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments.
- Analyze measurement data and assist in identifying trends, discrepancies, and sources of uncertainty.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, presentations, and briefings describing analysis methods and results.
- Collaborate with government customers, industry partners, and members of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
This position requires full-time, on-site work at customer facilities on Redstone Arsenal. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available. Candidates must currently reside in the North Alabama area or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville–North Alabama area.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
- Zero to ten years of relevant professional experience. Candidates may be considered for entry-level, mid-level, or senior-level positions based on their qualifications.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using MATLAB, Python, or a comparable scientific computing environment.
- Ability to analyze technical data and clearly communicate results.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while contributing effectively as part of a technical team.
- Ability and willingness to work full-time on-site at Redstone Arsenal.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a final DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EO/IR phenomenology, infrared signature modeling, thermal analysis, radiometry, or multispectral modeling.
- Experience with MuSES, SPIRITS, OSC, or similar signature-prediction tools.
- Experience processing or analyzing infrared measurement data.
- Experience with model verification, validation, and uncertainty analysis.
- Experience supporting all-digital or hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments.
- An active DoD Secret security clearance.
Compensation will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s education, experience, position level, and qualifications.
