Job Summary

micro1 is engaging Mechanical Engineering Professors, adjuncts, and academic instructors to contribute to a high-impact AI training project for a customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input.

This is an hourly-paid contract opportunity for academic experts who are passionate about engineering education and technical excellence. You will help develop and evaluate graduate-level engineering content that improves AI reasoning across complex mechanical engineering domains.

No prior AI experience is required. Your subject matter expertise and teaching experience are what matter most.

Scope of Work

• Design and author rigorous graduate- and postgraduate-level multiple-choice assessment questions within your area of mechanical engineering expertise.
• Develop challenging exam-quality content covering Solid & Structural Mechanics, Dynamics & Vibration & Control, and Thermal-Fluids.
• Create detailed explanations and rationales for answer choices, ensuring technical accuracy and educational value.
• Review, validate, and improve AI-generated mechanical engineering content for correctness, clarity, and pedagogical quality.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and project coordinators to refine content and maintain quality standards.
• Revise assessment materials based on project feedback and evolving guidelines.
• Maintain organized documentation of assignments and deliverables using project workflow tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD or MS in Mechanical Engineering with current or previous university-level teaching experience as a professor, adjunct, lecturer, or teaching assistant.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Solid & Structural Mechanics, Dynamics & Vibration & Control, or Thermal-Fluids.
• Experience creating, reviewing, or grading graduate-level exams, coursework, or engineering assessments.
• Strong ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, structured, exam-ready content.
• Background in assessment design, curriculum development, or educational content creation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to technical accuracy.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Familiarity with digital collaboration and project management tools is a plus.
