Kids Garden Asheville is looking for an energetic, creative, and dependable After School Teacher to join our Junior Explorers Club (JEC)! Our after-school program serves children ages 5–12 in a fun, screen-free environment where creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning are at the heart of every afternoon.

If you enjoy working with school-age children and love leading games, art projects, STEM activities, outdoor adventures, and creative experiences, we'd love to meet you!

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• Additional hours may be available during school breaks, teacher workdays, and summer camps.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children.
• Lead hands-on activities including arts and crafts, STEM projects, cooking, sensory play, outdoor exploration, and group games.
• Encourage creativity, teamwork, and independence through play-based learning.
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Help maintain a clean, organized classroom and outdoor space.
• Follow all health, safety, and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience working with school-age children in childcare, camps, after-school programs, or education is preferred.
• Positive attitude, reliability, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to lead a group of children with confidence and enthusiasm.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in children's activities.
