Position Overview

Fontana Village Resort is seeking an experienced and guest-focused Bartender to deliver exceptional beverage service across our resort outlets. This role is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, maintaining bar operations, and contributing to a welcoming, professional guest experience.

This position plays a key role in driving guest satisfaction while upholding responsible alcohol service standards and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient bar environment.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service

• Provide prompt, professional, and engaging service to all guests
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to recipe and standard
• Create a welcoming atmosphere aligned with Fontana’s service expectations
• Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues quickly and professionally

Bar Operations

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of bar areas at all times
• Prepare garnishes, stock supplies, and set up bar prior to service
• Accurately process orders and handle cash/POS transactions (Toast or similar)
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to leadership
• Follow all opening, shift, and closing procedures

Compliance & Safety

• Verify guest age and ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws
• Refuse service when appropriate in accordance with responsible service standards
• Maintain compliance with North Carolina ABC laws and company policies
• Promote a safe environment for guests and team members

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older (required for alcohol service in North Carolina)
• Previous bartending or high-volume hospitality experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of drink preparation, beer, wine, and spirits
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Certifications & Requirements (North Carolina)

• Must be eligible to serve alcohol in accordance with North Carolina ABC regulations
• Responsible Alcohol Seller/Server Training (e.g., ServSafe Alcohol or equivalent) strongly preferred or required within a designated timeframe after hire
• Compliance with all state and company alcohol service policies is mandatory

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and active movement
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay: $12.00 – $14.00 per hour (based on experience), plus tips
• Tipping opportunities available based on service volume and guest engagement
• High-volume summer season earning potential
