JOB DESCRIPTION: District Behavior Interventionist - Student Social Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification, Bachelor’s Degree or higher in agency counseling or a related field

• Experience in counseling and assessment of behavior

• At least three (3) successful years of teaching or service in a related counseling field

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Assist with the assessment of behavior needs of identified students

• Identify the appropriate conflict and problem-solving skills

• Design and follow-up with student behavior contracts

• Conference with parents related to behavioral and academic concerns

• Provide technical assistance to teachers on behavioral alternatives and interventions, including conducting workshops

• Evaluate program effectiveness

• Utilize therapeutic counseling strategies with individuals and families

• Provide direct counseling to individual students and their families

• Monitor specialized alternative program components focused on critical behavior issues

• Develop functional behavior assessments

• Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors

• Work district-wide in assigned school(s) – must provide own transportation
