Behavior Consultant

Southwestern Human Services (SHS) is looking to expand our team! SHS is a private not-for-profit psychiatric/behavioral health outpatient clinic. We have offices located in the South Hills and Lawrenceville, and have been serving children and their families throughout Allegheny County for over 29 years! POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Southwestern Human Services is currently hiring part-time and full-time Behavior Consultants (formerly called Behavioral Specialist Consultants/BSC). We are seeking enthusiastic and creative individuals to work with children and adolescents with Autism and/or a Behavioral Health diagnosis. Our clients are located throughout Allegheny County, and services are provided in the child’s home, school, or community setting.

The Behavior Consultant (BC) serves as the lead clinician on the child’s treatment team. The BC works in collaboration with other members of the treatment team to design and direct implementation of the behavioral treatment plan. Treatment plans are individualized to each child and are used by all members of the treatment team to help guide the course of treatment. The BC identifies behavioral goals and intervention techniques, recommends non-aversive behavioral change methods, and models interventions for the Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)/Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) and parents/caregivers. The BC primarily provides assessment, such as program design and monitoring, rather than direct therapy. Services are intended to implement specific interventions to stabilize the client, provide support to the family, and promote age-appropriate behaviors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (must meet one of the following):

• Licensed in this Commonwealth as a behavior specialist.
• Have a certification as a BCBA or other graduate-level certification in behavior analysis that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute.
• Graduate degree in ABA
• Graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, or counseling AND a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults
• Graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, counseling or a related field AND completed a clinical or mental health direct service practicum

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Recently updated Act 33 Child Abuse, Act 34 State Police, and FBI fingerprint clearances (less than 1 year old)
• Mandated Reporter training (less than 1 year old)
• Valid Driver's License
• Reliable transportation
