Maintenance Technician I
Aurora Launch Services (ALS): Aurora Launch Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alaska Aerospace, established to provide low cost, highly reliable launch services on a contract basis to both government and commercial space launch customers worldwide. The company is headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, co-located with Alaska Aerospace.
Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician I performs routine maintenance, grounds, facility, equipment, and operational support tasks under direct or general supervision. Assists with work orders, preventive maintenance, general repairs, equipment operation, and site support activities while developing proficiency in maintenance methods, tools, safety practices, and documentation requirements.
Location: This position is based at the Pacific Spaceport Complex – Alaska in Kodiak, AK. Work is performed on-site, with occasional travel to other operational sites in support of mission activities.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
1. Assist with or perform maintenance, repair, and operational support for company facilities, infrastructure, systems, equipment, roads, grounds, and assigned work areas under general supervision.
2. Support completion of work orders, preventive maintenance activities, projects, and assigned job tasks in coordination with the Department Lead or designee.
3. Assist with or perform maintenance related to water and sewage systems, electrical distribution systems, security systems, building envelopes, interior facility systems, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general site infrastructure, consistent with level of training and experience.
4. Operate assigned support equipment, which may include forklifts, man-lifts, company vehicles, loaders, graders, cranes, or other equipment as qualified and authorized.
5. Perform grounds and road maintenance, including snow removal, sanding, landscaping, debris removal, cleaning, and general upkeep of assigned areas.
6. Assist with documentation, inventory, material requests, work order updates, and records needed for maintenance and operational support.
7. Support launch, mission, customer, or site operations as required, including extended hours, overtime, weekends, or schedule changes based on operational needs.
8. Follow applicable safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, site rules, security requirements, and company policies.
15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This position operates in both indoor and outdoor environments, including operational sites and field locations. Duties require frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 pounds or more). Work may involve exposure to equipment, machinery, and varying weather conditions. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, and smoke may occur. Use of company-required and task-appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. May assist other employees, contractors, or site personnel by providing task support, communicating work status, and following direction from higher-level technicians, leads, or management.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
