North End Montessori School is seeking a warm, dependable, and experienced Montessori Primary Teacher to join our Children’s House program serving children ages 3–6.
The ideal candidate is passionate about Montessori education and committed to creating a peaceful, respectful, and engaging classroom environment. This position requires a Montessori credential from an AMS, AMI, or other MACTE-accredited teacher education program, along with a bachelor’s degree.
Schedule
The anticipated schedule is 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are open to discussing some flexibility in the daily schedule for the right candidate.
Compensation
$20–$26 per hour, based on education, Montessori credentials, experience, and overall qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain a beautiful, organized, and developmentally appropriate Montessori environment.
- Present Montessori lessons to individual children and small groups.
- Observe and document each child’s development, interests, and progress.
- Support children’s independence, concentration, social development, and love of learning.
- Establish consistent classroom routines, expectations, and Grace and Courtesy practices.
- Maintain accurate attendance, student, and classroom records.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with families.
- Collaborate with classroom assistants, fellow teachers, and school administration.
- Provide guidance and leadership to classroom support staff.
- Maintain required child-to-staff ratios and ensure appropriate supervision at all times.
- Follow all school policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, family conferences, and school events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Montessori Primary credential for ages 3–6 from AMS, AMI, or another MACTE-accredited program.
- Experience working with children between the ages of 3 and 6.
- Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy, child development, and classroom practices.
- Ability to create a calm, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to meet all New Hampshire DOE background-check requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Montessori Primary lead teacher.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or collaborating with classroom assistants.
- Familiarity with student observation, recordkeeping, family conferences, and developmental assessment.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
