Job Title: MSP Systems Engineer

Location: Hybrid, with flexibility for remote work and regular customer site visits as business needs require.

Salary Range: $80,000 to $105,000 DOE

Job Description:

As an MSP Systems Engineer, you’ll design, implement, secure, and support practical IT solutions across customer cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, including networks, servers, endpoints, Microsoft 365/O365, Azure, and Entra ID. Your work will improve customer performance, security, documentation, and day-to-day reliability while giving our internal support team a strong escalation resource.

In this role you will:

· Provide advanced technical support to customers and internal teams for complex issues across networks, servers, endpoints, Microsoft 365/O365, Azure, and related systems.

· Design, implement, and document customer network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, wireless, VLANs, VPNs, routing, and secure remote access.

· Lead or assist with customer infrastructure projects such as network deployments, firewall replacements, wireless upgrades, server migrations, Microsoft 365 improvements, Azure/Entra ID configuration, and security hardening.

· Administer and support Microsoft 365/O365, Azure, and Entra ID environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, licensing, user lifecycle management, identity management, MFA, conditional access, groups, role-based access, and security settings.

· Serve as a key escalation resource for 1st and 2nd level support teams by resolving complex issues, improving documentation, and creating repeatable solutions that strengthen service delivery.

· Provide proactive technical guidance to customers, helping them prevent future issues, improve security posture, and plan for technology upgrades.

· Stay current on networking, Microsoft cloud, cybersecurity, and managed services technologies to help ABS deliver modern, secure, and effective solutions.

· Assist with other duties, projects, or team needs as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

· 5+ years of experience in a managed service provider, systems engineering, network engineering, or similar IT environment.

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Strong experience designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and documenting customer network infrastructure.

· Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, wireless networking, firewalls, network segmentation, and related network equipment.

· Experience administering Microsoft 365/O365, Azure, and Entra ID environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, licensing, identity management, MFA, conditional access, groups, role-based access, and security settings.

· Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers, endpoints, cloud services, backups, cybersecurity, and monitoring tools.

· Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices, including least privilege, secure remote access, endpoint protection, email security, and Microsoft cloud security controls.

· Excellent problem-solving, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

· Valid NYS driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation for customer site visits.

· Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical customers in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications:

· Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, networking, cybersecurity, or a related field.

· Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365, Azure, Fortinet, Cisco, Ubiquiti, or similar.

· Familiarity with network monitoring, diagnostic, and documentation tools such as SNMP, Wireshark, RMM platforms, PSA systems, and IT documentation systems.

· Experience working in a managed service provider or customer-facing technical support environment.
