JOB OBJECTIVE: Under general supervision, work on the design, installation, programming, and testing of new electrical utility installations. Support and maintain existing electrical and control-type equipment at power plants, substations, EUC facilities, and the Town of Easton. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Thorough knowledge of electricity and Microsoft Office products.
• Must possess good communication skills to effectively work with internal and external departmental customers as well as OEM’s and vendors.
• Must have knowledge of logic functions, communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP and RTU, and various software platforms like EcoStruxure Modicon or RSLogix for Rockwell.
• Have experience in programing in Function Block and Ladder Logic.
• Ability to work with OEM’s/Vendors to diagnose/troubleshoot equipment issues and perform repairs.
• Must know how to use electrical tools such as digital multimeters, process meter, insulation tester, 4-20mA meter, oscilloscope, power supplies, and frequency generators.
• Must be able to install, troubleshoot, and repair single-phase and three-phase electrical motors, motor control circuits, lighting circuits, and other associated electrical equipment.
• Must be able to read electrical schematics, three-phase diagrams, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
• Must know NESC, NETA, NEC, NFPA 70B and NFPA 70E codes and standards.
• Must be knowledgeable with electrical equipment rated 72.5KV and below.
• Must be able to perform most of the essential functions of an Industrial Electricians III job description.
• Must always wear proper PPE.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must maintain regular, and reliable attendance.
• Must be available as needed to provide technical support during electrical outages, generator startups, and weather-related emergencies.
• Must be part of an on-call rotation.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Associate in applied science (AAS) in electrical technology and/or 3 to 5 years of experience in power plant and/or electric system operations preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work involves kneeling, squatting, climbing, standing, lifting, pulling, and carrying equipment.
• Ability to perform around exposure to noisy equipment, extreme weather conditions, and engine room noise and heat.
• Work from heights is required.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Manage medium-to-large electrical projects including the design, procurement, build, installation, testing, and pre-and post-project meetings and updates.
• Provide technical support for upgrades and maintenance involving power generation, electric and gas transmission systems, distribution systems, substations, and other EUC facilities.
• Create the design, development, installation, programming, and testing of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, Relays, and SCADA control systems for power plants, substations, distribution equipment, protection, and other company departments.
• Write the specifications and procurement documents for electrical equipment.
• Evaluate, test, and calibrate protective relay systems, metering platforms, and associated control equipment.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair various communication and camera equipment.
• Provide technical analysis such as fault current, voltage drop, load flow, arc flash, economic studies, planning studies, and forecasting.
• Upon request, map the electric distribution system as needed.
• Start to write and execute switching orders on the distribution and transmission system.
• As needed, prepare and review one-line diagrams, digital and analog I/O lists, topology diagrams, connection drawings, interconnection drawings, and schematic drawings.
• Assist in designing, installing, and maintaining automation systems that provide increased reliability, operator information, control, reporting functions, and reduced customer service interruptions.
• Provide technical support to EUC and the Town of Easton employees and equipment.
• Enhance the Electric Department’s service and productivity by providing support to other departments and employees by filling in and completing other duties as requested by the Superintendent of Electric Maintenance.
• Provide backup supervision when the Superintendent of Electric Maintenance is absent.

Instrument & Controls Technician I: Pay starting at $31.74 per hour or higher depending on experience.

Instrument & Controls Technician III: Pay starting at $45.71 per hour or higher depending on experience.

Pay: $41.73 - $51.77 per hour
