Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Buyer - Associate to join our procurement team, based in Columbus, OH. (This is an on-site position, not remote or hybrid) In this role, you will play a vital part in sourcing and purchasing raw materials (steel), electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and manufacturing materials for engineering and manufacturing operations. Your proactive approach and strong negotiation skills will ensure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery timelines. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to supply chain efficiency, enhance inventory management, and collaborate across departments to meet organizational goals.

Duties

• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to identify procurement needs and develop sourcing strategies.
• Manage purchase orders using software programs and the Internet.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to secure the best value while maintaining quality standards.
• Monitor inventory levels through materials management systems to prevent stock shortages or excesses.
• Coordinate logistics, transportation, and delivery schedules to streamline supply chain operations.
• Conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews to foster strong vendor relationships.
• Maintain comprehensive procurement records, contracts, and inventory control documentation for audit readiness.

Skills

• Prior experience purchasing steel, electrical and mechanical components and equipment.
• Proficiency in using various software programs is essential for managing procurement workflows.
• Strong understanding of materials management, inventory management, supply chain management, and logistics processes.
• Experience with procurement activities including sourcing, negotiation, contract management, and pricing strategies.
• Knowledge of production planning, merchandising, e-commerce platforms, and inventory control techniques.
• Excellent communication skills for effective negotiation and collaboration with suppliers and internal engineering and manufacturing staff.
• Ability to analyze data related to procurement metrics such as supply chain performance and cost optimization.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
