About Us
Atlanta Rod & Manufacturing is a specialty fastener and anchor bolt manufacturer based in Lavonia, GA, supplying energy, infrastructure, and industrial customers nationwide. As part of the Birmingham Fastener family, we're investing heavily in new equipment and expanding our forging and manufacturing capabilities — this is a great time to join a growing team.
The Role
We're looking for a Forging Operator to run hot and/or cold forging equipment producing bolts, anchor rods, and specialty fasteners. You'll work with heated steel and presses to form parts to spec, check quality along the way, and help keep production moving safely and efficiently. This is hands-on, physical work in a fast-paced shop environment — no two days look exactly the same given the range of custom and standard parts we run.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate forging presses/headers per job specifications and work instructions
- Load and handle heated billet/bar stock and coil stock safely
- Monitor part dimensions and quality throughout the run using calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools
- Perform tooling and die changeovers between jobs
- Identify and flag quality issues, tooling wear, or equipment problems before they become bigger problems
- Complete basic production and quality documentation for traceability
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventive maintenance
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE use around heat, presses, and moving equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience in forging, stamping, press operation, or similar heavy manufacturing preferred — not always required for the right candidate with strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read basic blueprints/specs and use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Comfortable working around heat, heavy equipment, and moving machinery
- Reliable, safety-focused, able to work as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Standing, bending, and repetitive motion for full shifts
- Comfortable working near high-heat processes and industrial equipment
- Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods
What We Offer
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Health/dental/vision insurance
- 401(k) with match
- Paid time off / holidays
- Opportunity to grow with an expanding manufacturing operation
