Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble spectacle lenses with precision, adhering to prescriptions and quality standards.
• Perform eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and ensure proper alignment for optimal vision correction.
• Operate and maintain optical laboratory equipment, including lens edgers, surfacing machines, and polishing tools.
• Assist patients with eyewear selection, explain lens options, and support retail sales efforts to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Manage medical records and documentation in EMR/EHR systems while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and health regulation policies to ensure compliance during all patient interactions and record handling.
• Conduct basic eye assessments such as vital signs and physiology checks when necessary for comprehensive patient care.

Skills

• Extensive experience in ophthalmology, optics, and optical laboratory procedures.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare regulations including HIPAA and state healthcare laws.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or other clinical software platforms.
• Strong customer service skills combined with retail sales experience to provide personalized eyewear fittings and frame adjustments.
• Ability to perform medical coding, billing, and manage medical records efficiently.
• Familiarity with POS systems for retail transactions and cash register operations.
• Experience working in pediatric or senior care settings is a plus; must demonstrate excellent communication skills across diverse patient groups.
