Who Is the Alachua County Property Appraiser’s Office?

The Alachua County Property Appraiser’s Office is responsible for identifying, locating, and fairly valuing more than 120,000 parcels throughout Alachua County.

Beyond our statutory responsibilities, we are committed to transparency, innovation, accessibility, public education, and exceptional customer service. Through strategic communications, community engagement, and digital storytelling, we help residents understand the property appraisal process, available exemptions, important deadlines, and the services provided by our Office.

The Digital Media Manager will join our Marketing & Communications team and help shape how residents, employees, community partners, and other stakeholders experience our organization.

Job Summary

We are seeking an innovative, strategic, and highly creative Digital Media Manager to lead the planning, production, publication, and evaluation of video, photography, and multimedia content.

The Digital Media Manager will serve as the Office’s lead multimedia storyteller, transforming complex government information into content that is accurate, accessible, engaging, and easy to understand. This position will produce educational videos, interviews, employee features, recruitment content, event coverage, public service announcements, photography, and short-form content for digital platforms.

The position works closely with the Public Affairs & Community Engagement Manager, Graphic Designer, Executive Leadership, department leaders, subject matter experts, community partners, and external vendors.

This position is not responsible for graphic design. The Office has a dedicated Graphic Designer who develops branded visual assets. The Office’s website is also fully managed by an external vendor. The Digital Media Manager will provide completed video content and supporting materials for the vendor to publish.

What You’ll Do for Us

As the Digital Media Manager, you will help modernize how local government informs and engages the community by:

• Leading the Office’s digital media strategy in alignment with organizational priorities and communication objectives.
• Planning, scripting, filming, producing, and editing professional video content.
• Producing public education videos, employee spotlights, interviews, recruitment videos, public service announcements, event recaps, and short-form social media content.
• Capturing professional photography at community events, public programs, employee activities, leadership initiatives, and organizational milestones.
• Translating technical property appraisal information into clear and engaging multimedia content.
• Partnering with leadership, department representatives, and subject matter experts to identify meaningful stories and communication opportunities.
• Collaborating with the Public Affairs & Community Engagement Manager to support campaigns, public education, outreach, recruitment, and employee engagement.
• Working with the Graphic Designer to incorporate approved title cards, lower thirds, logos, and branded visual assets.
• Producing content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, presentations, digital displays, email communications, and emerging platforms.
• Providing completed videos, captions, transcripts, thumbnails, and supporting materials to the Office’s website vendor.
• Maintaining an integrated multimedia content and production calendar.
• Monitoring audience engagement and recommending strategies to improve content reach and effectiveness.
• Introducing creative approaches, emerging technologies, and production practices that strengthen government communications.
• Ensuring all multimedia content reflects professionalism, accuracy, accessibility, transparency, and public service.

Multimedia Planning and Production

You will manage multimedia projects from concept through completion by:

• Developing creative concepts, scripts, interview questions, storyboards, shot lists, production schedules, and project plans.
• Clarifying each project’s intended audience, purpose, key message, deliverables, deadline, and distribution channels.
• Coordinating interviews, filming locations, featured participants, community partners, events, and production logistics.
• Preparing employees, leaders, residents, and community partners for on-camera appearances.
• Operating professional cameras, lenses, microphones, lighting systems, stabilization equipment, teleprompters, and related production technology.
• Conducting interviews and directing on-camera participants.
• Capturing high-quality video and audio in office, community, studio, and event environments.
• Supporting livestreaming, public meeting recordings, and special-event coverage when needed.
• Securing required approvals, releases, permissions, and production documentation.

Video Editing and Post-Production

You will turn raw footage into polished, audience-focused content by:

• Editing video using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable professional software.
• Performing color correction, color grading, audio enhancement, captioning, sound design, animation, motion graphics, and visual effects.
• Incorporating approved branding, title cards, lower thirds, music, photography, and other visual assets.
• Creating platform-specific versions based on technical requirements and audience expectations.
• Preparing accurate captions, transcripts, descriptions, thumbnails, and supporting files.
• Coordinating stakeholder review, revisions, approval, and final delivery.
• Exporting and optimizing videos for social media, presentations, digital displays, email communications, and website publication.
• Maintaining organized source footage, audio, project files, and completed productions.

Photography

You will support the Office’s communication priorities by:

• Capturing professional event, portrait, candid, environmental, leadership, employee, and community photography.
• Photographing public education programs, outreach initiatives, employee recognition, recruitment activities, and special events.
• Editing, cropping, color-correcting, captioning, and preparing photographs for approved uses.
• Selecting and organizing images for use by the Public Affairs & Community Engagement Manager, Graphic Designer, leadership, and other authorized employees.
• Maintaining a searchable photography archive with accurate dates, subjects, descriptions, and project information.

Digital Content and Social Media Support

You will:

• Produce engaging short-form and long-form content for approved social media and digital platforms.
• Adapt video and photography to platform-specific formats, dimensions, durations, and audience behaviors.
• Partner with the Public Affairs & Community Engagement Manager on campaign concepts, content schedules, messaging, and publishing plans.
• Produce timely multimedia content for public deadlines, special events, community initiatives, recruitment, and emerging communication needs.
• Monitor digital media trends and recommend relevant formats and storytelling approaches.
• Review analytics and audience-response data to improve future content.

Website Video Support

Because the Office’s website is managed by an external vendor, your website responsibilities will be limited to multimedia support. You will:

• Produce finalized video content for website publication.
• Provide properly formatted video files, captions, transcripts, descriptions, thumbnails, and supporting information.
• Coordinate with designated Office staff and the website vendor to deliver approved multimedia assets.
• Respond to technical questions concerning video formats, playback, captions, resolution, or file delivery.
• Review published videos to confirm quality, accessibility, accuracy, and proper presentation.

You will not be responsible for website design, development, routine publishing, technical maintenance, or content management system administration.

Asset and Project Management

You will:

• Manage multiple projects, deadlines, stakeholder needs, and production priorities.
• Maintain production calendars, project records, approval documentation, release forms, and delivery records.
• Maintain an organized archive of raw footage, completed videos, photographs, audio, transcripts, captions, and project files.
• Implement consistent file-naming, storage, backup, version-control, and retention practices.
• Maintain inventories of cameras, lenses, microphones, lighting, storage devices, and related equipment.
• Monitor equipment maintenance, condition, warranties, and replacement needs.
• Coordinate production logistics with internal departments, venues, community partners, and external vendors.
• Recommend improvements to production workflows, equipment, and creative processes.

Accessibility and Quality Assurance

You will ensure multimedia content:

• Meets applicable WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.
• Includes accurate captions, transcripts, descriptions, and accessibility features when required.
• Follows Office branding and visual identity standards.
• Maintains strong editorial, visual, audio, and technical quality.
• Communicates information clearly and accurately.
• Reflects professionalism, inclusion, and respect for the community.
• Complies with copyright, licensing, release, public records, and records-retention requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Digital Media, Multimedia Production, Film, Broadcasting, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Two years of relevant professional experience in video production, photography, digital media, multimedia communications, social media content, or public communications.
• Related professional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience using professional cameras, lighting, microphones, and multimedia-production equipment.
• Proficiency with professional video editing and post-production software.
• Experience creating multimedia content for public audiences and digital platforms.
• Strong writing, editing, communication, organization, and project management skills.
• Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
• Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events, outreach programs, and time-sensitive communications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of professional video-production or multimedia storytelling experience.
• Experience in government, higher education, nonprofit, or community-focused communications.
• Experience producing educational, public-service, documentary-style, or community-centered content.
• Experience conducting interviews and directing on-camera participants.
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Lightroom, Media Encoder, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable software.
• Experience with color grading, animation, motion graphics, audio mixing, and sound design.
• Experience producing content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
• Knowledge of social media analytics and content optimization.
• Experience with livestreaming, multi-camera production, and event recording.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.
• Experience with digital asset management and multimedia archiving.
• Familiarity with public records, copyright, licensing, media releases, and records retention.
• Drone videography experience and an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License.

Graphic design proficiency is not required. The Digital Media Manager will collaborate with the Office’s Graphic Designer on branded visual elements and creative assets.
