We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Controls Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining PLC and HMI software, supporting electrical system design, participating in research and development projects, and providing technical support for both internal teams and customers. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex automation challenges and working in a collaborative, fast-paced start-up environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC applications using IEC 61131-3 programming standards for the iCube control platform.
· Design, develop, and maintain HMI applications.
· Create and maintain electrical assemblies and bills of materials.
· Assist with electrical panel design and documentation.
· Support Research & Development efforts by evaluating and implementing new technologies, products, and automation solutions.
· Provide technical support during system integration, commissioning, and customer startup activities.
· Troubleshoot electrical control systems, PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and field devices.
· Work closely with the Purchasing department to identify, source, and qualify replacement components and alternate suppliers when needed.
· Review and improve existing control systems for reliability, maintainability, and performance.
· Travel occasionally to customer sites to follow design improvements and provide engineering expertise.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
· Experience programming PLCs using IEC 61131-3 languages (Structured Text, Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, etc.).
· Experience developing industrial HMI applications.
· Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems including:
· 480 VAC power distribution
· 24 VDC control circuits
· Experience reading and creating electrical schematics.
· Hands-on electrical wiring and troubleshooting experience.
· Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
· Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 10–20%).
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with building electrical assemblies and documentation.
· Knowledge of UL 508A industrial control panel standards.
· Experience configuring and programming servo drives and motion control systems.
· Familiarity with industrial automation equipment including VFDs, safety controllers, sensors, and instrumentation.
· Experience supporting manufacturing environments or custom machine builders.
· Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet, or EtherCAT.

Pay: $68,961.53 - $83,050.45 per year
