Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.
Li-ion Battery Inspection, Troubleshooting, and Repair (30%)
- Lead Li-ion battery return inspection, troubleshooting, and repair across the product line, serving as the primary technical resource for field and internal issues.
- Develop and maintain standardized diagnostic procedures, repair protocols, and documentation for Li-ion battery and charger systems.
- Partner with manufacturing, quality, and aftermarket teams to resolve battery-related field issues and reduce repeat failures.
- Train internal teams and dealer network on Li-ion battery troubleshooting and safe repair practices.
Test Engineering / Lab Lead (25%)
- Serve as the Test Engineering and Lab Lead, helping to develop, evolve, organize, and grow the company's test lab capabilities.
- Establish and maintain test procedures, equipment standards, and lab organization to support efficient and repeatable testing.
- Oversee high-level performance and troubleshooting testing including but not limited to the following areas: acceleration, gradeability, energy consumption, top speed, lift speed, software parameter evaluation, and hydraulic pressure/flow/temperature testing.
- Perform truck fault root cause analysis, investigation, and fixes
Electrical Support for Current Products, Quality, and Warranty (30%)
- Provide electrical engineering support for current product improvements and new product development projects as needed.
- Investigate quality and warranty issues, partnering with quality and aftermarket teams to identify root cause and corrective actions.
- Support Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) processes, including technical evaluation of returned components and systems.
- Act as a design consultant for current product issues as well as new product development efforts.
Electrification and Emerging / New Technology Growth Projects (15%)
- Assist with electrification and emerging technology initiatives across the product line, partnering with global engineering R&D teams and product management team on projects such as:
- New Controllers
- New Telematics Platform
- Pedestrian Avoidance/Detection Systems
- High voltage systems 80V-309V
- Autonomous systems
- Collaborate with the design and product management team in China on related project schedules, deliverables, and design feedback.
- Participate in routine quality audits of launched trucks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not currently manage direct reports but may have the opportunity to do so based on success and the growth of the test and electrical engineering team.

Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
- 3+ years minimum experience in the mobile equipment, heavy machinery, or automotive industry (or 5+ years in a related industry with a compelling background).
- Strong Hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude/passion with a strong desire to work on and develop electric vehicles.
- Demonstrated success troubleshooting complex electrical and battery system
- Experience with Li-ion batteries and chargers is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with mobile equipment control systems, including CAN-based systems, preferred.
- Familiarity with controls and electrical systems, preferably ZAPI and Curtis architecture.
- Experience creating testing programs and compiling detailed reports summarizing findings.
- Telematics experience
- Familiarity with lift trucks or off-highway equipment is ideal but not required.
- Previous experience with China engineering and Chinese language a plus, or experience working across different cultures.
- Able to work permanently in the U.S. (does not require visa sponsorship).
