Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Power BI & Microsoft Fabric Developer with a strong background in analytics engineering, data integration, and enterprise reporting. This role goes beyond dashboard development: you will design Microsoft Fabric solutions, build scalable data pipelines, and create optimized semantic models that support executive and operational reporting.
The ideal candidate has delivered end-to-end reporting solutions — ingesting data from APIs, ODBC connections, databases, and cloud storage into Microsoft Fabric using a Bronze, Silver, and Gold architecture — and can independently analyze unfamiliar data sources, map relationships, validate results, and build meaningful dashboards with minimal direction.
You will work with data from clinical and operational systems, HRIS and payroll platforms, Salesforce, HubSpot, and other enterprise sources.
Key Responsibilities
Microsoft Fabric & Data Engineering
- Design and maintain Microsoft Fabric solutions using Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, and Semantic Models.
- Build and manage Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.
- Develop data ingestion pipelines from APIs, ODBC, SQL databases, cloud storage, and flat files.
- Design scalable ETL/ELT processes with incremental loading, transformation, and data quality validation.
- Optimize data models and pipeline performance for enterprise-scale reporting.
Power BI Development
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and executive-level reports in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
- Build robust semantic models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations.
- Independently analyze business data, identify table relationships, validate accuracy, and translate findings into clear visualizations.
- Troubleshoot reporting discrepancies and optimize report performance.
Data & Business Collaboration
- Partner directly with business stakeholders to define reporting requirements and KPIs.
- Translate business discussions into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
- Ensure reporting consistency, governance, and documentation across enterprise data sources.
- Manage multiple concurrent reporting projects with clear communication and end-to-end ownership.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience.
- Demonstrated production experience with Microsoft Fabric — Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, and Semantic Models.
- Experience building medallion (Bronze / Silver / Gold) data architectures in Fabric or a comparable lakehouse platform.
- Strong SQL skills, including joins, CTEs, aggregations, and window functions, with experience designing reporting datasets.
- Experience integrating data from APIs, ODBC, SQL Server, cloud platforms, and other enterprise systems.
- Advanced knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M), and dimensional / star-schema modeling.
- Ability to work independently: understand unfamiliar data sources, determine relationships, validate outputs, and deliver reporting solutions with minimal guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare, home care, HRIS, or payroll data.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, HubSpot, or comparable CRM data structures.
- Experience with AWS S3 or other cloud object storage.
- Background in Azure Synapse, Databricks, or similar platforms prior to Fabric.
- Microsoft certification (DP-600, PL-300, or equivalent).
- Experience establishing data governance, documentation, or reporting standards from the ground up.
