Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient care through thorough dental cleanings with laser therapy, patient education, and preventive treatments. Compensation
- Compensation includes a guaranteed minimum salary or a percentage of collections, whichever is greater.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Take and develop dental radiographs ensuring proper technique and patient safety
- Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs and evaluating oral health status
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and comfort
- Manage electronic health records (in Open Dental), documenting treatment details accurately
- Maintain infection prevention protocols by adhering to HIPAA regulations, aseptic techniques, and infection control standards
Qualifications
- Active Maryland Dental Hygienist license
- CPR certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Gentle chairside manner with excellent patient education skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dentistry setting
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Open Dental for charting and documentation review
- Knowledge of medical/dental terminology, medical/dental records management, and medical/dental coding practices
- Hands-on experience with dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and patient care techniques
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including HIPAA compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and special needs patients
- Prior experience in dental office or clinic environments demonstrating excellent patient care skills
