Job Summary:

The Optometric Technician assists the Optometrists and Ophthalmologists (Eye Care Providers) in obtaining clinical information from patients; performs diagnostic tests; assists with contact lens fittings and conducts patient training in insertion, removal, wearing schedule, disinfection and proper care of contact lenses. This role performs other tasks as specified by the ECP in providing complete and comprehensive eye care. The Optometric Technician maintains the contact lens inventory, re -ordering as supplies are required. This position is responsible for ordering routine office equipment and supplies as necessary. When needed, the Optometric Technician assists the patient services representative with administrative duties.

Position Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years’ experience in eye care
• Certification as an optometric/ophthalmic technician is preferred.
• A current active BLS certification (with in-person component)
• Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment
• Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity
• Requires prolonged standing and walking
• Good communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills
• Professional manner with solid customer service skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficiency in basic computer functions
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment
• Performs work accurately and thoroughly

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
