Senior Software Engineer: Corporate and Manufacturing Networking – Global Technology
Starbucks Network Engineering provides a scalable secure and highly available global network utilizing automated repeatable processes to support our partners and stores across the globe. We connect partners to our customers either on premises or in the cloud.
As a Senior Engineer in Corporate and Manufacturing Networking you will own the design, implementation, and operational health of Starbucks' corporate and manufacturing network infrastructure. You will write code and build automated systems that eliminate manual processes, drive consistency at scale, and provide visibility across our global network. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on networking expertise with strong software development skills — someone equally comfortable designing a BGP topology and writing a Python automation pipeline.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Contribute to existing services that automate network infrastructure for configuration, operations, and visibility.
Influence network architecture, security, and best practices for network operations and implementation
Execute regular planned maintenance and testing activities.
Document and present technical briefings to peers as well as non-technical audiences.
Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies by participating in educational opportunities, attending conferences and seminars, reading industry publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
Report on network operational status by gathering and organizing data.
Participate in 24-7 on call rotation. Provide Tier 3 escalation support of network service incidents to diagnose problems and resolve business critical issues.
Document architecture, processes, as-builts, projects, standards, and root cause analyses.
Required Qualifications
5+ Yrs of experience managing large scale enterprise network infrastructure.
Python or Go for network automation. Nornir, Netmiko, NAPALM, or equivalent.
REST API Development and integration.
Configuration, monitoring, and management of network switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
Infrastructure as code. Git/GitOps, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform
CICD pipeline Development. Github Actions
Network management tools, data visualization, and monitoring. Datadog, Nautobot, Splunk, Netflow/sFlow, Packet Capture analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of TCP/IP, BGP and other network protocols.
Experience automating Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, and F5
