ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Memphis Health Center, Inc. (MHC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that has served the Memphis community since 1970. POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provides executive leadership and oversight of all clinical programs and services within Memphis Health Center. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered, cost-effective medical care while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation standards. The Chief Medical Officer works as part of the clinical team and is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing/supervising clinical staff.
The CMO develops and implements strategies to advance MHC’s mission, oversees clinical performance improvement, and collaborates with community physicians and partners to enhance service delivery. This role requires both administrative leadership and direct patient care responsibilities, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability throughout the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Devotes approximately 20% of time to direct patient care and 80% to administrative duties.
· Oversees the day-to-day operation of all clinical services across all MHC locations.
Supervises and evaluates physicians, advanced practice providers, and other assigned clinical personnel.
· Collaborate with the Human Resources Director in recruitment, performance evaluation, promotion, discipline, and separation of clinical staff.
· Conducts regular clinical staff meetings to share updates, address challenges, and promote alignment with organizational goals.
· Serves as liaison between the clinical team and the Chief Executive Officer.
· Plans, organizes, and directs all clinical programs in accordance with MHC’s mission, goals, and compliance standards.
· Implements clinical components of Program Guidance publications from the
· Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
· Works collaboratively with the Performance Improvement Committee and Quality Assurance Committee.
· Partners with the Executive Team to develop, plan, and implement clinical programs and budgets.
· Represents MHC in community and professional settings; serves as liaison to community healthcare providers and hospitals.
· Promotes a culture of safety, equity, and excellence in patient outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school.
· Completion of an approved residency program in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
· Board Certification preferred, Unrestricted Tennessee Medical License with hospital privileges.
· Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience (inpatient and outpatient) and three (3) years of relevant administrative experience.
· Demonstrated success in leadership and operational management within a healthcare setting.
· Experience working with underserved, minority, and/or rural populations preferred.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
