Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Junior Civil Engineer to support our project estimation, quality assurance, and design processes. You’ll work closely with our senior estimator, financial analyst, and field teams to prepare bids, manage QA/QC documentation, and create technical drawings. This role offers hands-on training and professional development opportunities to build your expertise in geosynthetics, cost management, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing accurate estimates and bids for above-ground storage tank projects, including material recommendations (e.g., HDPE, LLDPE, PVC liner specifications based on project duration, site conditions, and regulatory requirements).
• Compile and prepare QA/QC paperwork, such as inspection logs, compliance reports, and turnover packages for completed installations.
• Manage and oversee QA/QC technicians during field installations to ensure quality standards are met.
• Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or Civil 3D) to create as-built drawings and technical documentation for client deliverables.
• Collaborate with the financial analyst to incorporate weekly cost updates into estimates, tracking labor, materials, and equipment expenses.
• Coordinate with the safety department to ensure compliance with safety protocols and standards during project planning and execution.
• Work with the dispatch department to align resources and scheduling, ensuring tight project timelines are met.

• Participate in on-site visits to observe tank erection and liner installations, gaining practical knowledge of our labor-focused processes.
• Support process improvements by helping document estimation templates and SOPs to streamline workflows.
• Grow into independent project management as you develop skills.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering.
• Understanding of construction materials, ideally geosynthetic liner systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or similar) for drafting and design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail for cost estimation and quality documentation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with estimators, analysts, and field technicians.
• Willingness to travel to job sites as needed and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in oil and gas, environmental containment, or construction projects.
• Familiarity with estimation tools and basic knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g., EPA or industry-specific guidelines for fluid containment).
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• Enthusiasm for hands-on learning and career growth in a specialized niche.
