Cape Fear Valley Health is seeking a Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our collaborative NICU team. This position works under the direct supervision of board-certified Neonatologists and provides high-quality care to neonatal patients in a supportive, team-based environment.

About Cape Fear Valley Health
Cape Fear Valley Health is a 1,000+ bed regional health system serving more than one million patients annually throughout southeastern North Carolina. The system includes multiple hospitals, outpatient centers, and specialty practices. Our Labor & Delivery service averages approximately 4,000 deliveries annually, including a large referral base for high-risk pregnancies.
NICU Information
Our Level III NICU is a dedicated 44-bed unit, including 21 intensive care beds and an adjoining 23-bed intermediate care unit. The unit serves as a regional referral center for high-risk neonatal care, providing comprehensive management of premature and critically ill newborns.
We provide 24-hour coverage for high-risk deliveries and staff a dedicated neonatal ground transport team serving seven surrounding counties, with transport to tertiary centers when a higher level of care is required.
The treatment team consists of five board-certified Neonatologists, eleven certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, and additional support staff working collaboratively to provide exceptional care for newborns ranging from 23 weeks gestation through post-term, including those with complex medical needs.
Staffing Model
Each shift is supported by a collaborative team structure that includes:
· Two Neonatologists (attending physician and back-up physician
· Two Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
· Day shift coverage: 7:30 AM – 8:30 PM
· Night shift coverage: 8:00 PM – 8:30 AM
Position Highlights
· Position primarily supports night shift coverage, with occasional day shifts depending on staffing needs
· Structured orientation and intensive training program (3–12 months) tailored to experience level
· Flexible scheduling model with a total annual commitment of 144 shifts, including clinical coverage, education days, and administrative time as scheduling permits
Qualifications
· Graduate of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program
· Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC)
· Eligible for North Carolina licensure
