Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the financial, accounting, and fiscal compliance functions of the organization. This position oversees financial reporting, the general ledger, cash management, accounts payable, grants accounting, audits, budget reporting, and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
The Accounting Manager may also perform other duties across the organization as their skills and training permit and may be cross trained in other areas to accomplish operational objectives. This is a hybrid position with primarily remote work; however, regular or occasional onsite attendance at our facilities will be required based on operational needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Financial & Accounting Operations
a. Maintain the general ledger and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
b. Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals, and financial statements.
c. Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash flow.
d. Analyze budget-to-actual variances and prepare management reports.
e. Assist with operating and capital budget development.
f. Provide monthly program budgets to department managers.
2. Audit, Grants & Compliance
a. Coordinate all financial audits and provide required documentation.
b. Assist with Form 990 preparation and Medicare Cost Report support.
c. Maintain grant tracking, payroll allocations, invoicing, and reporting.
d. Complete the financial sections of the HRSA Uniform Data System (UDS) report.
e. Ensure federal drawdowns and financial compliance activities are completed timely.
3. Leadership & Process Improvement
a. Develop financial policies with the CFO.
b. Supervise finance staff and provide coaching and mentoring.
c. Ensure critical finance functions are completed accurately and timely.
d. Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Primary Attributes
Professional & Technical Knowledge:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
· CPA preferred.
· Knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit/FQHC accounting, grants, audits, and financial compliance.
Continuing Education:
· Maintain knowledge of accounting standards, healthcare regulations, and organizational policies.
Licenses & Certifications:
· CPA preferred but not required.
Technical Skills:
· Experience with ERP/General Ledger systems (Abila MIP preferred).
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial reporting software.
General Development:
· Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment:
· Office environment with prolonged computer uses and occasional extended hours during month-end close, audits, and budget preparation.
