Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Transportation Operations Manager to lead and optimize our transportation and distribution functions. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end management of freight, shipping, receiving, and distribution operations, ensuring seamless coordination across multiple teams and third-party logistics providers. Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise transportation planning, freight management, and distribution operations to meet company objectives.
• Oversee warehouse management systems and transportation management systems to ensure accurate data entry, reporting, and process automation.
• Develop and manage budgets related to transportation, logistics, and warehouse activities, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Implement process improvement initiatives using Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize workflows.
• Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and procurement teams to streamline freight forwarding and shipping processes.
• Manage inventory control, demand planning, production scheduling, and order fulfillment to meet customer expectations.
• Supervise warehouse supervisors and logistics teams, fostering a collaborative environment focused on safety, efficiency, and accountability.
• Utilize ERP systems such as AS400 or equivalent for supply chain analytics, inventory management, and operational reporting.
• Oversee fleet management including dispatching, fleet maintenance, and driver supervision to ensure timely deliveries.
• Drive supply chain management strategies that enhance distribution network performance while maintaining compliance with safety standards.
• Promote team management through effective managerial communication, training programs, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with shipping & receiving regulations, procurement policies, forklift safety standards, and warehouse safety protocols.

Experience

• Proven experience in distribution operations or supply chain management with a strong background in transportation planning and logistics management.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience leading warehouse or distribution teams in fast-paced environments.
• Extensive knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms like AS400 or similar tools.
• Hands-on experience with process management initiatives such as Lean or continuous improvement projects within logistics or warehouse settings.
• Familiarity with freight forwarding (including NVOCC operations), 3PL partnerships, inventory management techniques, and procurement processes.
• Strong understanding of budget development, demand planning, production scheduling, and inventory control practices.
• Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite for reporting analysis and operational documentation; supply chain analytics expertise is a plus.
• Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively while fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
