About the Role
We are seeking a Robotics Systems Engineer to develop, integrate, and validate the mechanical, electrical, embedded, sensing, and control systems of advanced robotic platforms.
You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware, controls, AI, and system-integration teams to bring robotic systems from prototype development to reliable real-world operation.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and test robotic systems and subsystems.
- Integrate motors, actuators, sensors, cameras, controllers, and communication hardware.
- Develop and maintain robotics software using C++, Python, Linux, and ROS 2.
- Support robot motion control, kinematics, dynamics, navigation, and manipulation.
- Integrate perception, localization, sensor-fusion, and control modules.
- Conduct hardware bring-up, system calibration, functional testing, and performance validation.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, firmware, communication, and software integration issues.
- Develop test procedures and automated tools for system reliability and repeatability.
- Support prototype assembly, laboratory testing, field testing, and design iterations.
- Collaborate with AI and robot-learning teams to deploy intelligent behaviors on physical robots.
- Document system architecture, interfaces, test results, technical issues, and engineering changes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience developing, integrating, or testing robotic or electromechanical systems.
- Programming experience with C++ or Python.
- Familiarity with Linux and ROS or ROS 2.
- Understanding of robotics fundamentals, including kinematics, dynamics, sensing, motion, or control.
- Experience working with sensors, motors, actuators, embedded controllers, or robotic hardware.
- Strong system-level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across mechanical, electrical, software, and AI teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of San José State University or experience working with the SJSU robotics, mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering community.
- Experience with humanoid robots, mobile robots, robotic arms, autonomous systems, or industrial robots.
- Familiarity with SLAM, navigation, motion planning, perception, or sensor fusion.
- Experience with motor control, real-time systems, embedded firmware, or communication protocols.
- Familiarity with cameras, IMUs, force/torque sensors, encoders, LiDAR, or tactile sensors.
- Experience designing and conducting hardware and system-validation tests.
- Familiarity with simulation and mechanical or electrical design tools.
