Definition: Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Program Director is responsible for the maintenance, development and operations of the overall programming format of KSKO to ensure its on-air presence. The Program Director shall serve as a liaison in programming matters between management, the Community Advisory Board and the general public.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old. High School diploma, GED or relevant experience.
• Must have experience in radio programming, operations and production.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with paid and volunteer staff, community, listeners in a cooperative and professional manner.
• Technical experience and proficiency preferred including experience with automation equipment (Zetta).
• Audio production skills preferred.
• Computer experience and the ability to deliver on-air music programs across any music genre.

*Experience requirements may be waived at the discretion of the General Manager.

Duties:

• Responsible for the maintenance and development of the overall programming format and operations of KSKO.
• Responsible for the daily maintenance, programming and operation of the station’s automation system and web sites.
• Evaluation, selection, production and scheduling of on-air programming in harmony with existing schedule and policy.
• Function as an on-air operator, hosting daily shows for a minimum of 10 hours per week.
• After hour duties may be required for emergencies or technical difficulties.
• Responsible for maintaining KSKO’s on air quality and maintaining on air promos.
• Responsible for maintaining KSKO’s music library.
• Recruits, trains, schedules and supervises on air volunteers.
• Assist General Manager and other staff with annual on-air membership drive.
• Maintain a Community Advisory Board and ensure that it meets as required.
• Assist with fundraising or special events at KSKO.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

About McGrath:

McGrath is located in the heart of Interior Alaska, with affordable commercial flights arriving twice daily, six days a week. Summer temperatures can reach the 70s, while winter temperatures often drop between -30° and -50°F. Home to around 250 residents, the community enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, berrypicking, camping, boating, and snowmachining. KSKO plays a central role in local life, hosting events like Back to Bluegrass, the Membership Appreciation BBQ, and bingo multiple times a year.
