Location
This position is located at our U.S. headquarters in the heart of Los Angeles. Join top professionals in a collaborative office environment, working on-site five days a week Monday - Friday.
Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Electrical Engineer, you will refine and optimize existing electrical designs to align with U.S. standards while designing new electrical control systems for fully automated indoor vertical farms. This role focuses on large-scale automation equipment and power distribution projects, requiring an individual capable of working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
You will be responsible for testing and refining electrical designs, managing projects to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery and learning new skills to adapt to the evolving demands of vertical farming technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide electrical engineering expertise in machine design for food processing facilities.
- Producing UL508A compliant control panel designs.
- Specification and selection of standard and hygienic electrical equipment including motors and instrumentation.
- Apply project management techniques to ensure electrical designs meet schedule, budget and quality standards.
- Create and modify electrical drawing sets, including:
- Schematics
- Cabinet layouts
- Network topology diagrams
- Prepare design documentation and calculations for:
- Motor sizing, machine load calculations, cable sizing and earthing and protection schemes.
- Machine technical specifications and operation and maintenance manuals.
- Create commissioning plans, test sheets, checklists and schedules.
- Work with installation and commissioning teams to ensure machine builds and handover are coordinated.
- Perform on-site commissioning and provide remote commissioning support for internal and external teams.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.E.E.) in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (B.E.E.) from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 3-5+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on machine design and industrial control panel build, preferably in automation, robotics, or food processing environments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and the ability to independently develop drawing packages.
- Competence in low-voltage (LV) design, switchgear selection and control systems.
- Experience in project planning and document management.
- Hands-on experience with machine design, panel layouts and harness design.
- Willingness to travel interstate to support installations and operational needs.
- Extensive knowledge of:
- U.S. state-specific (California/Nevada) wiring rules and relevant standards.
- UL 508A
- NFPA 79 and the NEC
- UL 508A certification highly regarded
- Experience with OSHA/ANSI/IEC standards for Functional Safety & Machine Safety highly regarded
- Previous experience in food processing facilities is highly regarded.
