Position Objective:
The Volunteer and Fundraising Coordinator plays a pivotal role at the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin, serving as a strategic bridge between talent stewardship and organizational advancement. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this position will champion the complete volunteer lifecycle by leading the recruitment, comprehensive orientation, training, and strategic placement of a diverse volunteer workforce to ensure a deeply rewarding advocate experience. Concurrently, you will partner with the development team to drive fundraising growth, cultivate community relationships, and secure the vital resources needed to advance our mission of restoring sight.
Essential Duties of the Position:
1. Volunteer Recruitment & Program Coordination (50%)
· Build a robust network of volunteers, intentionally sourcing from corneal transplant recipients, donor families, Lions Clubs, and other stakeholder groups.
· Build volunteer leaders, drive volunteer committees and work collaboratively through internal and external partners to achieve organizational goals.
· Conduct interviews, assess skills, and lead comprehensive volunteer orientation programs tailored to organizational needs.
· Train volunteers on healthcare privacy laws (HIPAA) and the specific mission, regulatory standards, and messaging guidelines of the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA).
· Match volunteer skills and personal stories with outreach events, administrative support needs, and community education workshops.
· Develop and execute a year-round volunteer recognition strategy, including annual appreciation events.
2. Fund Development & Event Coordination (35%)
· Coordinate logistics, registration, and on-site volunteer support for signature eye bank events, such as Lions Club conventions, community health fairs, and donor remembrance ceremonies.
· Maintain high-quality volunteer and donor profiles utilizing CRM software (e.g., Raiser's Edge or Salesforce) to track service hours and giving history.
· Identify highly engaged volunteers who may be prospects for individual, major, or monthly giving, and assist the Chief Development Officer in managing and cultivating those relationships.
· Oversee timely data entry of event registrations and donations, and generate meaningful, customized thank-you correspondence.
3. Community Outreach & Public Relations (15%)
· Represent the eye bank at local health fairs, donation partner flag raising events, and civic organizations to raise awareness about LEBW and its mission.
· Collaborate with the communications team to write volunteer spotlight features for monthly newsletters, annual impact reports, and social media platforms.
· Respectfully support and coordinate anonymous correspondence programs between corneal transplant recipients and donor families.
· Other duties as assigned.
