Civil-Site Development Engineer, PE

Patterson & Dewar Engineers is seeking a professional civil engineer (PE) to join the team. This person should be close to Georgia and border states as travel will be required for site visits.

Key skills: Managing people and projects, collaborating with other engineering specialties, client relationship development, utility engineering, proposal writing. Engagements may include distribution or transmission utilities, commercial or industrial facilities, data centers, and power plants both conventional and renewable.

Past experience with a civil engineering consulting firm should include site development design, land development design, project management, stormwater analysis and drainage design utilizing AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Must have the ability to coordinate project submittals, facilitate regulatory agency approvals, and obtain construction and environmental permits. Candidates should have the ability to work with clients and agency staff, including attendance at public and/or construction meetings and also represent the company at other events as needed. Strong organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role.

Essential Functions

· Perform civil site design including grading, drainage, stormwater management, paving, and erosion control (sign and seal)

· Prepare site layouts and land development plans for substations and related utility infrastructure.

· Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop design models and construction drawings.

· Design stormwater management systems using hydrology/hydraulics tools such as Hydraflow (Hydrographs, Express, Storm Sewers).

· Prepare SWPPP reports and stormwater documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.

· Interpret geotechnical reports and subsurface data for grading and foundation considerations.

· Assist with foundation design including shallow foundations, spread footings, and drilled piers.

· Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, structural, and geotechnical engineers.

· Prepare permitting packages and ensure compliance with local and state regulations.

· Support preparation of technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.

· Participate in QA/QC reviews to maintain quality and accuracy of personal work and others work

· Conduct site visits and field assessments and assist with construction coordination.

Skills and Qualifications

• PE license required
• A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in relevant civil engineering
• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required from an ABET accredited university
• Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time
