We are a rapidly growing structural engineering firm looking for an experienced intermediate to advanced drafter or architectural designer with structural drafting experience to join our team on a part-time basis.

This is not an entry-level position and is not a learn-on-the-job role. We need someone who already has verifiable structural drafting experience and can step into active projects with confidence.

The primary responsibility will be taking engineer markups, sketches, calculations, architectural backgrounds, and other project information and developing complete structural plan sets based on the engineering produced by our team.

Our goal is to alleviate drafting work from our engineers so they can focus on engineering while the drafter handles drafting.

Responsibilities include:

• Create structural plan sets from engineer markups, sketches, calculations, and project documents
• Revise drawings based on redlines and engineering comments
• Draft foundations, framing plans, sections, details, and other structural elements
• Work within our existing company templates, drafting standards, and formatting
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers as needed
• Ask questions when something is unclear rather than making assumptions
• Manage assigned drafting tasks with minimal hand-holding
• Turn projects around quickly while maintaining accuracy and quality
• Assist with multiple residential and light commercial projects at different stages of development

We are looking for someone who:

• Has verifiable structural drafting experience
• Is proficient in AutoCAD and/or other relevant drafting software
• Understands how structural plan sets are organized and developed
• Can interpret engineer markups and translate them into professional construction documents
• Has experience working with structural foundations, framing, connections, sections, and details
• Takes direction well and follows established standards
• Communicates clearly and asks appropriate questions
• Can work independently once the scope and engineering direction are provided
• Is dependable and able to meet agreed-upon deadlines
• Can work quickly without sacrificing accuracy

We are open to hiring either an employee or an independent contractor. We are also open to temporary, long-term, or ongoing arrangements depending on the individual and fit.

This position will begin part-time, but our goal is to build a strong working relationship and potentially transition the right person into a full-time role as our workload continues to grow.

We are not looking for someone who needs extensive training in structural drafting. We are happy to provide support, answer questions, and explain our internal processes, but the person in this role needs to already understand structural drafting and be able to execute.
